Guys with the Yak-36S non-control VTOL system and the Yak-36SMF null error:

Re-download Engine Mod 2.7, also download the most recent patch by western.

Delete the copy of Engine Mod currently in your mod folder

Place in the fresh copy of Engine Mod and overwrite with the western patch

If you have Stabs4All activated (JSGME), deactivate it.

Voila! They work!

This problem maybe solved by today's my SAS Engine MOD 2.7 patch here.

I merge Stab4all code into my patch and add Enable/Disable function by conf.ini entry.

Air refuel code is changed into Engine MOD 2.7.1w compatible.
Engine MOD 2.7.1w is needed, today.
