I think you're escaping the fundamental point of my proposal, which is the use of the vertical fin (meshes Tail, Kneel and Rudder) of the good old P-39D, which certainly falls within the limit that you quote. No need to add polygons, just replace.
It's not that easy!
It is not enough to change some parts! They must be adjustable, adapted to the new plane!
An example of these screens!
And I'm not talking about the obligation to redo the mapping ...

I prefer to keep my "bad" P-40K version ! Or wait a full model creation!  :D

As Epervier explained it is not impossible, but neither is a 5 minute fix or simple "swap-out". This needs a bit of careful 3d work and some remapping to look halfway decent.

Gmax is a free 3d program and more than capable of doing this sort of task, so why not try your hand at it, who knows what that may lead to ....  ;)

Epervier,
thank you very much for having spent your time investigating feasibility of my proposal. I never thought it was an easy task, I was just emphasizing the point that there was no need to break the polygons limit.

GJE,
the real obstacle for me in this matter is Java: I'm absolutely unable to deal with errors introduced decompiling classfiles - simply I can not see them! Secondly, I already spend most of the time making and updating campaigns, leaving little room for other. Last but not least, my health, lately getting worse.

... looks like there's a proposal by Barnesy, at FM's in the 3D section ...  ;)

Since I am not sure I can post a direct link, here is an extract of what Barnesy posted:

"this is a small mod for the P40E new
i have been watching this thread https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,51199.0.html
and thought i might help grey beard out a little hope this is sorta what you are after
storebror could possibly whip you up a K model slot so you can add what you want to it grey beard

Thank you so much, Mick!

I would have missed that without your hint, since seldom I glance at FM for lack of time.

I think Barnesy did a great job! Now it should deserve an its own slot and compatibility with all game versions from 4.09 onward. I'm embarrassed for bothering you again, but there any volunteers?

Thank you all,

... Greybeard, may be you should just try to take the New E version, replace part of it with Barnesy's K 3D adaptation kit, then rename this folder P40K, and you're done ...!  :P

... well at least visually ...  ;)

So just to test it!  ;)
The loadouts and FM are totally different (FlightModels/P-40K-1.fmd & FlightModels/P-40K.fmd) !
In 409 we can have the K-1 (US only) and K-5 (USSR only)

... I hope Geybeard has got the New E version from DT so that he can test it ...  ;)

(I won't be able to test it, because I don't have the New E version ...)

Haha, remote cooperation :D
Thanks for the heads up Mick.
@Paul: I'll get in touch with you later next week, currently I'm suffering from a relapse of my flu and right now I'm tied to the bed again. Dammit.

Mike,
my best wishes for a prompt healing.

Epervier,
with RDF. The two distinct variants (US and USSR) would be the acme of pleasure! :D

Mick,
unfortunately, I do not have ModAct installed in 4.13.1: I keep it clear for stock campaigns testing purpose.

To all,
please be aware Ton at FM already offered to make conversion (please see same link mentioned above by Mick): must I stop him?

Thanks a lot!
