Very nice map, thanks !

But I have a question : as the area (in real life) is very big (it took me 5 hours to go from YuanLing, my wife's home, to Changsha by the freeway in 2013), is it a 1:1 map, or has it been reduced ?

Hi Gaston, Unfortunately, you may be right.  I think the map is not full scale but maybe 3/4 or even 1/2.  I did not realize this when agracier gave me the SRTM files to get started.  I just used the map that he gave me and started texturing and populating without paying much attention to the realistic size of the  map.

No problem, man !

Is there a possibility to resize to real distances ?

whoa! hahaha  :o
Building maps is not that simple.  You'd have to start over from scratch and build a whole new map.

If I made a new map of China in the future it would include Kweilin, Hengyang, and Hankow.  Someone had requested that area before and it would be very useful for missions to and from Hankow.  On this Hengyang map I wanted to focus more on missions in the Hengyang area and also include Canton.  For a new map I would be sure to make it full scale.  But that's just a vision, for now.

just declare it as the approx size the map is , this at least helps us from warping all the time to travel great useless distances which is a pain .

I don't know what the scale size is.  I'm not smart enough to figure it out.  I prefer maps to be full scale so distances would be the same as in real life.
But, like you say, at least the "Time Skip" won't have to be used as often for great distances.

Whatever the size is, I still believe it's a good map for this region, actually, the only map for this region.    :)

cztx_Henyang map has the size of  map_T.tga 640 x 448 pixels.
If it would be a 1:1 map then one pixel should represent 200 m.
So the area of the map would be 128 x 89.6 km.
By comparing with Google Earth we can see that the distance from parallel of Cchang-sha to the parallel  of Kuei-lin is approx. 323 km.
The  cztx_Henyang map is therefore about 323/89.6, i.e.  about 3.6 times smaller than a 1:1 map.
I hope I decoded   city names correctly.

Thanks for showing the figures Uzin.  Now that helps us understand map size better.

After years of flying long distances somewhere in 2010 or so I came to appreciate a smaller sized map here and there. E.g. I totally love the WhiteCat 3GB KTO version...one of the best Korea maps there is IMHO. :P

hi Tom2.  I'm glad you like the smaller scale maps.  There are advantages to them like opposing forces taking off and getting into dogfights quicker - without the LONG flying distances of 1:1 scale maps.  I would rather have 1:1 maps but I almost always use the fast forward or Time Skip keys for the long distances.

Beautiful looking map CT. For those who do not want to DL another 7 GBs here are some Quick.mis + Tomoose missing objects and Hex. runway plates from the BoM map plus the relevant static.ini entries.
