Good morning all...I was wondering if any of the talented skinners out there would be interested in doing some skins from the 365th FG(386th, 387th & 388th squadrons) that fought in the ETO from D-Day to the end of the war. They moved a lot of mud- got into some A2A here and there- and were one of the Bodenplatte targets. There are quite a few pictures on their website:
http://www.hellhawks.org/index.html And a couple very interesting books: "Thunderbolts of the Hell Hawks" (Barnes, Crump and Sutherland) w/500 photos and 98 illustrations of the group's P-47s; and also "Hell Hawks" by Dorr & Jones (highly recommended).
It would be great to have a couple examples of their Thunderbolts available- maybe OD and NMF- I don't have any specific A/C in mind. I also don't have any specific project waiting on skins- I just thought if a skinner was looking for ideas and had a quality template available that this might be an interesting project- as there are some resources available and I would love to see some of these birds 'come to life'! No matter if anyone takes up the task- I just want to thank all the talented skinners out there for your time & efforts- they are truly appreciated by the rest of us in the community for certain!
