I'm frequently guilty of this myself, nevertheless let me blame you for not reading the readme
The new "camera mod" external view can be triggered by the "snap/pan view" toggle key.
Hit F2 to go to external views.
When you move the mouse around and you happen to find you're in "modded" view mode, just hit the "snap/pan view" toggle key (default: F9) and you'll be back in normal mode.
Since at this time you might have "destroyed" your center viewpoint by moving around already, just hit F2 again to get centered back on your plane.
Don't worry, you don't have to hit F9 everytime - it's a toggle key and the selected mode will be kept.
The only thing about external views to change in the next patch pack is the behaviour of the "follow view" (default: F8) key if it's intermittently pressed with the F1 key.
Currently this will cycle you through "Gopro" views on externals every time you hit F8, but since F1 has been pressed inbetween, it should of course default back to the "follow view" mode.
The work around for the moment is to cycle in "F1 -> F2 -> F8 -> F1 -> F2 -> F8" style instead of just cycling "F1 -> F8 -> F1 -> F8" but this will be fixed with the next patch pack.
TL;DR: Your issue isn't any. Hit F9 and you're good.
