Mediafire links not working?
« on: July 13, 2016, 02:22:37 PM »

Hi all,
Thought about re-installing CUP today and decided to find the updated download page complete with all the links.
After a lot of searching and frustration however, I have discovered that no matter what browser I use, none of the links work, whether they are for SASmod act 5.3 or the torrent links. This means I am unable to download any of the files for the mod.
Very annoyed, any help is appreciated.

I don't think the torrent links have worked in a while, but the links on this page all work for me-- under STEP BY STEP:

Any link I click on that page, I get a Save-As dialog box asking where I want to save the file. Maybe you have a popup blocker running that's suppressing that window.

What browser are you using?
I've tried chrome, IE and firefox and none of them seem to work

It works in all three of those browsers on my PC. But all three of them are bringing up their particular Save-As dialog boxes, and that is what you are not seeing. Do you maybe have some kind of internet security program running on your computer, that blocks popups?

(Cant post a screenshot for some reason, won't let me post external links)

What I'm suspecting is a program running in the systray at the bottom right of the screen by the clock. Hover your mouse over each icon until the text pops up identifying it, and see if you can find one that has something to do with popup killer or internet security.

If you can find something like that, you can right-click it and choose exit, maybe. Then try the links again.

With default settings, any modern browser works perfectly fine with Mediafire direct links.
If you have multiple browsers (like Internet Explorer or Edge, Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Opera, ...) and all show the same issue, you can basically rule out the browsers themselves as the cause and should focus on your antivirus software first.
Usually Antivirus Software can be (temporarily) disabled, try that to see if it makes any difference.
If not, your PC might as well be infected by a virus that blocks mediafire downloads (e.g. in order to keep you from downloading some tool to get rid of the virus).
Try checking your PC for viruses and trojans in that case. Dr.Web CureIt! can do that for instance without having to install some huge antivir package.

If it's just a single browser, try resetting your profile for that browser.
Find instructions how to do that below:
Internet Explorer: https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/kb/923737
Microsoft Edge: https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/de-DE/fdda0835-0050-4fc3-a823-692b8c4a3f4d/microsoft-edge-reset-the-default-settings?forum=win10itprogeneral
Google Chrome: https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/3296214?hl=en-GB
Mozilla Firefox: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/refresh-firefox-reset-add-ons-and-settings

That's because you need at least 5 posts before you can do that.
You have them now, so now you can post screenshots.

Thanks SO much for the help guys, did a couple of anti-virus updates, toggled a few options and the downloads work fine now.
Really appreciate it.

Got the mod installed, after some tinkering, the furthest I can get it to load is 70%, checked conf.ini and posted a section of the logfile where it all seems to go a bit wobbly, help, as ever, is much appreciated.

The log reports a missing classfile which is always a sign of either a missing part to be installed or a mistake in the installation process.
Most probably you missed one of the "restore points".
You will have no other choice than to repeat the installation process and do it letter by letter as described here:
