Problem refueling with the A4
« on: August 04, 2016, 02:04:11 PM »

Hello it's me again.

I'm practicing refueling the "Sabre Fury" with the A1 tanker and I succeeded a few times, so I tried with the A4 tanker.
The problem is, every minute or so, the tanker suddenly climbs or dives by a few tenths of meter, like if it had drifted in altitude and had to correct.  So I can't approach the tanker and connect.  The A1 does not do that, it stays on its rail for the whole mission.
Any idea where that problem comes from and how it can be fixed ?
Thanks in advance

Oops Sorry I mean the A4 tanker climbs or dives a few TENS of meters, not tenths.
(I am not a native English speaker, as you probably noticed).

I've lost my A-4 tanker install now and cannot test by myself, but only wondering....

How about each Waypoints' cruise speed of A-4 tanker ?
When that speed is too low (like under 500km/h) , AI cannot keep height because of less speed for its flight characteristics and becoming natural dropping-down ---> recovering nose-up.

In the other side, today's AI codes in a part of Engine MOD is not good.
They are like patch work mosaic one , not smart level flight.
We want good Java logicalists.

I make the tanker fly a U-shaped pattern with just 4 waypoints, with very long legs so that I can practice.  Altitude 5000 m and default speed for all of them. It is 300 knots if I am correct, I'll try a higher speed to see if that improves things.  Thanks for the suggestion.
At the same time it will make it more interesting to refuel at higher speed :-)

On the other hand as you say it might be more of an AI problem because what I see often is that the tanker rolls 90 degrees to the left to make its dive.  Not just low-nose attitude thus.
