Polish cavalry units uploaded
« on: August 28, 2016, 12:04:13 PM »

Hi

I needed Polish cavalry for my Poland 1939 campaign, so I asked Mission_bug for some advice.

But he was kind and helped me and they are based on his "Cavalry units WWI by Stephen1918".  :)

https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,47396.0.html

I did the Polish cavalry texture and the horse texture is by Uufflakke.

Polish Cavalry:

Polish Patrol:

I'm apparently not allowed to post on the "Vehicles + Artillery" section, so I had to post here instead.

The Polish cavalry is posted on the IL-2 Misc page on my site.

Cheers

September 19, 1939 year was the charge of the Wólka W?glowa.

This is not a myth, and those events told me many times someone close to me who was himself a member of that fight.
He was a professional officer of the Polish Army and had seen tanks in the Polish army in 1939, too, were already tanks so the horse teams have not made a mistake. And more faith Witnesses events than mythBusters that Polish cavalry tanks did not fight, of course, not a sword but not once had to cut out with an encirclement of way.

Short summary.
During the battle of Bzura majority of Polish forces were encircled and crushed. Part of the Polish troops broke but the lap and on the night of 14 on September 15 crossed the Bzura in Brochów going to the Kampinos Forest.
September 18 Poles captured the town of Comfort and Sieraków, and a day later they reached the canes, which were strongly occupied by the Germans. Poles discontinue the attack Laski got around to the north and followed further Warsaw.
Soldiers 14th Cavalry Regiment Jazlowiec Colonel Edward Godlewski of Podolska Cavalry Brigade and a small part 9 Cavalry Regiment Malopolska stumbled in Dabrowa Forest near Wolka Weglowa on German troops. Colonel Godlewski gave the signal to charge, which led the commander of the 3rd Squadron 14 Regiment Lieutenant Marian Walicki. The surprise of the Germans during rest and courage Polish cavalry led to break the enemy's position. Unfortunately, at the edge of the village were set Mo?ciska tanks and seat of the German machine guns, which inflicted heavy losses on the attackers. As a result, gray killed 105 cavalry lieutenant in the Walicki, and 100 were injured. German losses are 52 dead and 70 wounded. Despite the large start the attack failed, and the two regiments penetrated to Warsaw. Battle of wólka w?glowa the charge was the last in the history of Polish cavalry made with the participation of the entire cavalry regiment.

Witness Polish attack was the Italian war correspondent, Mario Appelius, who described it as follows:

Suddenly, a heroic team of cavalry in the strength of about a few hundred horses emerged at a gallop from the brush. Rubbed, they have developed in the middle of the banner ... All the German machine guns fell silent, and only acts fired. Their fire has created a firewall over 300 meters before the German lines. The Polish soldiers were advancing at full speed, as in medieval paintings! At the head of all he galloped commander with raised sword. It was seen as decreasing the distance between a group of Polish cavalrymen and the wall of the German fire. It was madness to continue this charge to his death. But the Poles passed.

I will only add yet this: In the area of Lomianki, Dabrowa, Wolka Weglowa were pulled around noon by the commander gen. Major. Wilhelm von Loeper grouping of the German right wing. I and III Squadron 4. motorized regiment of mounted riflemen, tanks, 11th Armored Regiment and the 65th armored battalion and squadron and 76th Artillery Regiment, which left the area of ?omianki and were preparing to attack the Group Operational Cavalry gene. Abraham. Charge made by the 14th Lancers caused the gene. Von Loepner reported: "On 19 September counterattack grouping could be made to the heavy fighting that grouping had to fight, often on two fronts, with a strong opponent, attacking cavalry under the Wólka Weglowa and advancing the beet. Only considerable losses division managed to keep the evening way Sieraków-Laski, and the village of Laski, Wólka Weglowa and Sieraków. "
