IL-2 not visible on new monitor :(
« on: October 26, 2016, 03:32:11 PM »

Hello,

I just got my new ASUS monitor at the front door this afternoon. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236740&cm_re=monitor-_-24-236-740-_-Product (Haha I got it before they raised the price again! :D )

It's an excellent monitor, very nice colors and a quality piece of equipment at that. I'm very happy with it. Thank you MaD for suggesting it to me! The extra 2" size does definitely make a difference.

I've tried a few games with the new resolution, and they work great. However, when I start up IL-2, I cannot see it on the new monitor. Only the desktop appears on the monitor, but I can still see IL-2 fine on my laptop screen, which I have plugged the monitor into. Kind of annoying since I bought the monitor specifically for IL-2. ::(

I'm sure this is a simple fix. I've had this problem before with different situations. Can someone tell me what I need to do to fix this problem? Is it something in conf.ini?...

Thank you in advance!

Try Fn-F4 and experiment with copying your screen onto an external display.

Thank you for your reply!

Unfortunately, Fn-F4 doesn't work for some reason. However, I was able to get IL-2 on my monitor by setting the graphics output to "digital television" which copies the screen to the external display as you said. Now I can't have it on my laptop screen, but who cares. At least I have it on the monitor.

From what I understand, you're running your Laptop in dual monitor mode, with the internal display being the primary monitor (where the taskbar is on) and the big new screen is your secondary monitor.
The problem with this config is that IL-2 will always start on the primary display.
Maybe this is possible to change by a mod (I will check that later), maybe with a 3rd party tool specifically for multi-monitor setups like DisplayFusion (I'll check that later too).

Best regards - Mike

So far the 3rd party software option works for me.
DisplayFusion has a function where you can move a window to the previous/next monitor.
You can start IL-2 with the resolution of your secondary monitor and use the DisplayFusion key for moving the window (by default Ctrl+Win+X).

Thank you Storebror!

I will wait until I get my new computer shipped to me before I mess around with this too much. My laptop can't exactly run good frame rate on a 1080p monitor anyways!
