MiG-15KRTz (Recon/Tanker) & MiG-15KISh (Strike Fighter)

  • Reconnaissance cameras & light intensifier viewer with both oblique & vertical views (installed via Loadout choice)
  • Ram air turbine driven air-to-air ‘buddy’ refuelling system (installed via Loadout selection)
  • Airborne intercept radar with CRT scope identifying Friend or Foe targets within 16km (installed via Loadout choice)
  • Combat information centre relaying location of hostile aircraft, enemy vessels, friendly carriers, & refuelling aircraft
  • Forward facing radar rangefinder that detects enemy vessels within 16km
  • Carrier landing assistance cockpit instrumentation effective within 8km of the boat
  • Ordnance release director that assists with the dropping of dumb bombs and unguided rockets at low level
  • Radio controlled rockets, acoustic homing torpedos, & radar guided glide bombs for maritime strikes
  • Altitude hold, direction hold, & route hold autopilot
  • Ground proximity indicators (gunsight & cockpit dial)
  • Pilot directed fuel transfer system (from external droptanks to the aircraft’s internal fuel tanks)
  • Rearward facing radar warning receiver that detects enemy gunsight radar within 3km

Heavy Aviation Cruisers, Training Targets & Runway Equipment

  • Skopa-class heavy aviation cruiser - 6 degree angled flight deck, 4 arrestor wires, 2 steam catapults & 8 dual 40mm AAA turrets
  • Skopa-class aviation training cruiser - straight flight deck, 5 arrestor wires, 2 steam catapults & flight deck flood lighting
  • Both aircraft carriers have rotating air-search and surface-search arrays, with air-search antenna also pitching through 20 degrees and fire-control radars tracking targets
  • Cruiser side elevators move up or down every 10 minutes and between 1800 & 0600hrs flight deck/hangar lighting automatically activates
  • Range targets can be located on water or land
  • Radio controlled target submarines will submerge or motor on the surface depending on proximity of searching aircraft
  • Target barges can be moored at sea, beached or towed by another vessel
  • Runway arrestor traps, catapults & windsocks have lighting which automatically activates between 1800 & 0600hrs

  • A comprehensive 15 single mission pack is included along with 30 (24-bit) aircraft paint schemes & 6 pilots skins. These missions use the stock IL2 Crimea map with any additional planes, ships or vehicles also being stock items.

Requirements for 4.12.2m
You need to have a working version of IL2 1956 - The Jet Era. So before you install Project 85 please make sure this is the case.

Installation
Like with the excellent IL2 1956 - The Jet Era, you will need to edit .ini files, so make a backup of these files before you begin the Project 85 install. Please read the installation section in the Project 85 - Guide.pdf and if you do have any issues, you will need to post a log file so the community can assist.

Tips from the ‘beta’ testers
Special thanks to all the Project 85 acceptance testers for their time and feedback, very much appreciated.
  • If you find the aircraft carrier or runway steam catapults are not working, make sure you have entered the appropriate details in the catapults.ini (see installation notes). Also please search for any additional catapults.ini files in your mods folder and if you find some, add the extra Project 85 details as required.
  • Like Jet Era aircraft, Project 85 aircraft use differential braking. So to turn Left, use Rudder Left Full & Brakes Left keys together.
  • In some missions, it is recommended to set weapons salvo to 'Full Salvo'. Depending on your version of SAS Engine Mod, you will need to use either Weapon Salvo Size or Toggle Bomb Release mode key (check your IL2 ‘controls’ keyboard commands section for your particular option).

I am looking forward to playing this, i've tried several times to revert to my backup and reinstall the mod. Without succes, the games launches as usual but something goes wrong when loading the mod files. Did i miss something?

Thank you for the response, but there doesn't appear to be a file with that name in the SAS folder or the whole Il2 directory.

Barbarossa your issue appears to be that the game may not have picked up the delimiter between air.Mig_15KRTz and 1 in the air.ini file. Try re-entering the air.ini lines with a tab between the data (see below). cheers mace
