Squashman:

I've tried to bring your map up but get this reported in my log:

Code: [Select]
SectFile load failed: null
java.io.FileNotFoundException

section [MAP2D] not found in 'maps/Ceylon_42/load.ini

The last line - "section [MAP2D] not found in 'maps/Ceylon_42/load.in" - shows up at the bottom of the FMB screen. I have Cyberolas' Singapore map up and running so I don't need the folder you sent with your map.

Hello chaps/Bob,

the issue described above results from simply a wrong entry in the all.ini, if my memory serves me well for a change.   :)

Maybe try checking the correct spelling and map folder structure.  :D :-| ;)

Cheers

Tom

Hi Guys/Bob

Along the lines that Tom has suggested there is a chance that you have the wrong folder structure if you followed my instructions in the readme, which was also copied into the download Post #7. I incorrectly specified the wrong folder pathway, as Western pointed out in Post #9. Sorry if it caused confusion but my only excuse for the carelessness is that I'm somewhat of a beginner. I have now amended the readme, both in the download and in the post.
The correct pathway is of course Mods(SAS, WAW, etc)/Mapmods/Maps/Ceylon_42

best regards

Squashman:

I have egg on my face. Quite a while ago there was a thread somewhere that showed how to remove the MAPMODS folder out of the #SAS folder and place it into the rootfolder. This allowed the use of the MAPMODS folder by multiple versions of the game without having to keep installing multiple GBs of MAPMODS folders into each game version folder such as CUP; DBW; or whatever.

Anyway, none of this helps to solve my problem; I'm afraid I've busted something.

I'm in the middle of a sixty-eight-mission campaign that I don't really want to have to start all over again. When I finish the campaign I'll be installing vpmedia's modpack for the next seventy-odd-mission campaign. At that time I will add this map.

Thank you for your help but I've got this on hold for the moment and will pursue it when I upgrade later.

hi Squashman!  It's nice to see a new map-maker.  I'm happy that Fabianfred and I (and others) have inspired you!  I was searching to see if anyone had done the Andaman/Nicobar Islands and this link for Ceylon came up.  I'm surprised it's still in the WIP map forum.  I think it should be listed in the finished map forums.
Anyhow, since there aren't any screenshots, here are some:

Hi Czech

Thanks for the encouragement - I'm just reworking some of the towns and the map c and ed_m01 on the Ceylon map pending putting it in the finished maps.
I've just put another map up in there by the way - Eastern Java/Borneo and I have some good news for you, I have maps of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands though they are at early stages yet - stand by and I will put a link for download

Squashman,

Many thanks for a lovely and vibrant map, very much appreciated. One question I have to ask, was the omission of the Racecourse airfield deliberate, or have I somehow done something wrong?

Best regards

Hi Solotk

No, the Racecourse airfield will be included - that is one reason why the map is still WIP - do you happen to have any photographs?

My pleasure Squash,

I look at an awful lot of reference material in my main hobby :) I remember once seeing an MSFS9 tutorial someone did, where they built an airfield by overlaying and scaling an almost transparent image over their map , and building on that. I thought it really clever. A lot of the plates on that site would lay themselves open to that (If possible in IL-2) The guys over at the Airfield Research Group https://www.airfieldresearchgroup.org.uk/ can probably help as well, they're very hot on RAF and Commonwealth airfields, someone there might have photos not in the public domain.

Try Ross McNeill at RAF Commands http://www.rafcommands.com/forum/ as well. The guys there are simply Ninjas when it comes to obscure or Commonmwealth RAF airfieldinformation, and I know for a fact they've uncovered a huge trove of airfield information and photos of Far Eastern Airfields that haven't been released publicly, so probably worth an email ;)

Indebted once again Solotk.
It's nice to know there are so many people out there keeping our aviation heritage alive
I shall pursue the avenues you have suggested.
