X52 Joystick Failure
« on: November 21, 2016, 07:47:09 AM »

My X52 Joystick recently failed and any rudder input also puts in a full nose down component as well. I really like the throttle on the X52 with its rotary wheels perfect for trimming so wondered if another joystick could be used alongside the throttle part? Anyone ever done this?

Another Joystick?
Another X-52 main part would work, no problem.
Anyway, what you describe sounds like the common wire shortcut issue on the X-52.
You can dismount your X-52 stick and isolate the wires that come out of the stick again.
That should fix it.
Youtube holds a couple of videos with X-52 repairs if you need assistance.

Best regards - Mike

Thanks for the reply Mike, I'checked all wires exiting the handle internally and there is no chafing , unsurprising given the amount of Vaseline on them. My idea was to purchase a cheap joystick without mapping my throttle controls to make use of the x52 throttle

So the question boils down to whether or not the throttle quadrant works without the joystick part attached.
That's something you can test for yourself easily ;)

I have and it does. I 'll try to borrow a joystick to use alongside it. Will let you know the outcome.
