Hi Dimus,
Recently got FSX: Steam Edition (it was discounted to about 8 bucks, so I figured why not?) and really enjoy it. Stock aircraft and scenery are all good on my old machine, and I'm enjoying the stock pilot lessons and missions too.
I've been admiring the Milviz products from afar, the F-4 looks AMAZING, but for the time being they're beyond my hardware and budget. I hope the products and community are still around for my next pc upgrade (whenever that will be!). I've never really been tempted by multiplayer, but it looks like it would definitely be the way to go for FSX combat flying, as you say.
I shelled out about 50 bucks to get the Orbx edition of New Zealand's North Island. Amazing scenery, but right on the edge of what my old PC can handle. My creaky old machine is fine with the Orbx scenery for general aviation (where things happen pretty slowly) but I start to run out of memory to refresh the scenery at military speeds. Trundling around the scenery in an old Cessna is a nice change of pace though.
Orbx NZ North Island, Tongariro National Park and World Heritage area. I used to hike here when I was at high school (many, many moons ago!) and the scenery is very accurate.
Orbx have a sale on at the moment by the way (and the
FREE demos are very good too!):
