Thanks for the tip max. I saw such lines in some "leading" mat files,  followed by similar mats that don't have these lines.
Saw SpecularPow 32 few places instead of 4. Is that it ?

Can this technique be use on planes tires which are sometimes way white, too bright and shiny... Or is this of an entirely different issue...

Happy new year. Best wishes and thanks again.  ;D

From my past experimenting with these number values, it also effects the tire files if you change those files,
If you reduce their value to "zero" on those tire files.... you will get not gloss or shine on the rubber tires.
Well, you will still notice some shine on them, but not so much.

For the tire files (or gear) this would look like this...
[LightParams]
  Ambient 1.0
  Diffuse 1.0
  Specular 0.0  <------------- zero shine
  SpecularPow 0  <------------- zero shine
  Shine 0.0

-------------------------------------------

I noticed on some files the values were way up to 32 and even 64 in the SpecularPow. I think this is way too much and off-balances the
good looks of the overall 3d-model.
After all , it is a very nice model and it should also look nice in the game , without too many parts being too bright, while other parts are too dark.

The only files that should not be touched are the ones named "Glass" - This is for the glass windows shine on the cockpit and other glass areas.
But on some models, they are also way too bright and have a high number.
Change them only if you want less shine.

Basically a texture that "maps" what spectacular value to use for that mesh. :-|

Yes I understand what you mean, It would be nice.
I sometimes use the STAINLESS TOOL to look into diferent parts of an airplane model
and then can look inside their files to make changes. This tool is very helpful to all artists
both mod-3d-artists and skin-artists.

Here is some forum posts about his Stainless-Tool invention - https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,44894.0.html
His website download page -  http://stainlessbeer.weebly.com/downloads.html
It is FREE and it is very good ! I reccomend to use!

Some other files inside the mod-airplane folder usually have already the name written on them,
so its easy to discover the airplane parts.

-------------------------

A question...

Is there a skin-template for this aircraft ?

Disabling should be //Tu-4              air.TU_4 1                            NOINFO  r01     SUMMER

I have never heard of disabling causing 60% CTD; should be the opposite.
If you neutralize the mod file and air.ini entries are still present: that cause 60% CTD.
So, just tested that, and written //Tu-4 ... It had no adverse effect in my game with hundreds of mods...

Be shure try another mission.
CHECK all the prerequisites to I-28 mod are installed and updated, ( ...your "nothing but Jetwar installed" worries me... ).   o_O
Could be that your "Jet War" is not up to date with most recent of the preriquisites versions.
WESTERN WEAPONS PACK GENERATION 2016 is quite a novelty. So it may very well not be in an 'older' download of #JTW.

update: Since you mention SAS madact5,3 , I hope you mean Jet war as a part of CUP, and not Jet era which is only one of the requirements, and contains none of the others.

I made sure to install every single requirement before installing the plane as well. I've never been able to use the Jet Era Tu-4 anyway. I tried to use the IL-28 in a mission built in FMB and while the model appeared in the preview window, there was nothing available for the weapon menu and my game gave me the expected "Mission loading failed: null" message when I tried to start a mission.

The Jetwar Tu-4 has always given me the same error, I've had 3 different installs in the past year (all 4.12.2, modact 5.3) and it's been the same on all of them. When I said "nothing but Jet Era installed" I meant with the Tu-4 crashing, not the IL-28. I've been using Jet Era 1.33 with the needed Modact on every recent install and it hasn't worked on any of them. I wouldn't be surprised if it has something to do with Steam, but I don't think that's the issue. Strangely, I have the same issue with the stock Yak-3 VK-107.

Edit: I've been reading my log file and all of the Jet Era FMs are present with a format similar to what I've pasted below WITH THE EXCEPTION of the Tu-4. I've checked and double checked, the Tu-4 is in my air.ini.

I'll test with the IL-28 and Tu-4 and see if I can find the issues tonight. All times are in GMT, for some unknown reason.

Tu-4's problem was fixed in releasing a patch very soon after JetEra v1.33 released and the bug was reported.

Yak-3 looks like having another problem, related to PA_Jeronimo's New Mod wheels.
New Mod wheels seems to be installed in your game, it changed stock plane structure, but its texture is missing.
Do you delete New Mod wheels textures ?

Not that way ;)

Not that you know what spect. is used in meshes.

Rather, that each pixel of the texture has it's own spectacular value ;) .

I had a feeling the Mod Wheels mod probably had something to do with it when I saw the log. I'll try the patch for the Tu-4 and see if that helps, I had no idea it was a known issue. I'll load a mission now with an IL-28 and see if I can pinpoint the issue.

By the way guys, I'm sorry for going off-topic here - if it's an issue, feel free to have an admin delete my posts.

EDIT:
After I installed the Tu-4 hotfix, the IL-28 is working perfectly. Not sure why but evidently the issue was some asset shared by the two. Might be a good idea to add the the first post that Jet Era with the 1.33 hotfix is required, I'm sure I'm not the only pleb who made/will make that mistake.

AAH!  :)  That would be a dream come true ! A miracle !
But,
since we cannot have such dreams at this moment, we must do things the best we can.

Happy flying good friend NS_Koty !
