Either of these computers should be good for IL-2. In a comparison, supposedly the RX-480 is slightly better:

I have been told that typically, Nvidea has the better product and better value for the price. I use Nvidea GTX 1060, same as the one you're looking at and I love it, no problems. However, we also have horror stories of driver updates for them screwing up the machine. (My brother had to return a $999 MSI laptop with a GTX 970M a few days into using it because the Nvidea driver update ruined it.)

If the only difference is the GPU, I would go for whichever one is best. Of course, you have to decide which you think is best. It's all a matter of weighing the options, painful as that is. (of course $55 more for RX 480... dealbreaker?  :P )

It's strange that the GTX1060 is rated higher than the RX480 because the RX480 has 8 GB GDDR5, while the NVIDA 1060 has 6 GB GDDR5.

I looked at this site
http://www.futuremark.com/hardware/gpu/AMD+Radeon+RX+480/review
and it gave the Radeon a score of 18960, while the NVIDA 1060 (6GB) got 17540.

I'm sure that either of these cards will work fine with IL2, but I've been thinking of BOS & BOM. I'm not really into the "multi-player thing", but the graphics of these games are pretty good.

In reading Japanese PC parts reviews, RX480 looks optimized maximum for latest graphic API like DirectX12 or Vulkan.

Only the scores / fps about the game titles or benchmarks set to use DirectX12 or Vulkan, RX480 can reach GTX1060.
But older APIs like DirectX11 or OpenGL, RX480's score becomes down about 30 %.

Thanks.....
If don't know what you are doing (like me) GPU's, CPU's, and Motherboards become so confusing.

Looks like the GTX1060 might be the way to go (unless I decide to go with a NVIDA GTX1070), which might be overkill.
