Weird graphic distortion
« on: January 26, 2017, 11:59:10 AM »

hey guys!

firstly please let me say THANK YOU SO MUCH for B.A.T.!!!

i found a funny thing. switching in full zoom "out" (full back in cockpit) to flyby view and than switching back to cockpit or to the outside view (F2) gave me results posted. when i zoomed "in" (full forward in the cockpit) everything went back to normal.

this is what i got after switching cockpit view to "flyby view" with full zoom out  :o:

siwtching (still with full zoom out) from flyby to outside view  o_O:

and on this picture i am finaly back in cockpit of F4U-1D  ;D:

i am flying with saitek x-55 rhino and i have assigned button "G" on throttle segment to the zoom function.
i tried to set some dead zone for this axis but it is still the same.
no serious issue as you can jump back to normal just with zooming in from full zoom out position.
and definitely not sure what (appart from some mushrooms for example...) may caused these hallucinogenic views...  ;D ;D ;D

have fun everybody and wish you safe flying and a lot of kills!
thanks a lot again to one and each involved in B.A.T. guys, you done hell good job...

Lol, yes this is a feature which I have found to be quite annoying! This is from one of the "FOV" Field Of View mods. The field of view changes how the degree range you can see from your camera, more than literal zoom. It is nice to have increased FOV for distant screenshots, but the "snapping" to full FOV out mode can obviously cause some visual issues. I personally don't think it is necessary to this dramatic FOV changes... So far I've just learned to live with it. Have the mouse wheel handy!  :P

One thing you can do to avoid it is to not change the field of view with the mouse wheel. Only use the + and - keys sparingly, and the view will not usually snap to full FOV out mode.

I have not been able to find and disable this mod yet. Can anyone shed some light on where this mod is located and how we can disable it?

I never get this because I generally fly from the cockpit or use normal views.  Zooming out to one setting before full wide will present the best instrument scan without changing zoom whatever you do.  Full zoom out looks weird in cockpit and out.  Still, I found no harm in removing the FOV Classfile:

19EF8DC806613AE4, just REM it out (-19EF8DC806613AE4).

For those that do want to play with FOV mods, and have other suggestions, we are currently testing some of those through JSGME so that they can be added if you want them.

I read somewhere that if you add 'flyby=0' to the mods section of your config.ini this problem goes away. I had this problem and when I added that line it went away.

Merely FYI, earlier today I inadvertently posted a new report regarding the same problem. Pending a different solution, I've decided to REM out the classfile as per Monty27's suggestion. So far so good.  :)
