Thank you very much, A1_Phoenix! I've been hoping for years for Jumo 109s in Finnish camo. I just downloaded them now, and they look wonderful. You have made my week with these skins  :)

thank you guys, these ideas came from almost 5 years ago, talking about long wip time heheheh

About FAF Project, it's based on plausible grounds: GER/FIN relationships were not exactly excellent in real 1939 (molotov/von ribbentrop etc.) so i came out with this timeline

- Early 1939 - The Swedish Air Force acquires 30 Bf109D-1 (called J9, so no Seversky P-35s here), "on sale" because Germany aim to reinforce political and productive relationship with scandinavian nations. Finland is still doubtful, and moves towards USA for their Brewsters

- Early 1940 - Seventeen J9s found their way to Finland with F19 Volunteers, fighting well in the final phase of Winter War. 3 are lost, only one in combat.

- April 1940 - F19 survivors returns to Sweden when Talvisota ends. Finns are surprised when Germany offers as goodwill gift a bunch of D-1/D-1Late -just dismissed from Luftwaffe inventory- for free. It's a diplomatic move, they will need the aid of Finland for a future attack on USSR.

- May 1940 - 16 Doras (serials MT-169 to MT-184) start their service with elite LLv.24, now a mixed squadron with Brewsters. Luftwaffe personnel is also sent for assistance. The planes remains initially with the 70/71 splinter
scheme.

- from Sept.1940 - LLv.24 planes are painted in new field green/dark gray/silver camo

- June 1941 - Yellow identification markings added, start of Continuation War, few Doras are lost in both combat or accidents

- Feb.1943 - 109G-2 acquired from Germany, surviving Doras reassigned for training and recon duty

- 1948 - Definitive radiation of FAF 109 fleet (with remaining 4 Doras)

Hi  A1_Phoenix

I dont know if you are seriously doing this or is this a joke or a what if thing? :-X
In Finland there never was any Bf Doras in FAF service!
Some facts about Bfs in Finnish use: The first Bf G2s came to Finland
in 13of may 1943.The last Bf G6 came in 30 of august 1944.All together
there were 159 Bfs (G2,G6,two G8s) to Finland during 1943-1944.
The war between Finland and Sovjet Union ended  the 4th of september 1944.
The squadrons using Bfs: HLLv34 13.3.1943-4.9.1944, HLLv30 6.3.1944-4.9.1944
and HLLv24  4.4.1944-4.9.1944.
Anyway it is good to know how things really were  :)

Cheers

barber,

This is all what-if stuff, but with a plausible backstory. A better one than IL-2 1946 originally had, IMHO. Have fun with it! Real history leaves us few chances to fight battles with the alluring, yet under powered, Jumo 109s.

Barber, of course it's an Alternate History scenario: i can say it's my field as many skins of mine are What-If :)
Many skinners here are true artists and very competent in 100% historic skins, so i've found a way to do something different and -i hope- fun and interesting.

Still, i need plausible scenarios without changing too much history, as i love the puzzled look on rivet-counter people hehehe
To make things more interesting, i'm now working on Swedish doras, and the F19 ones, replicating real life J8s camos and markings :)

Thank you for extra FAF 109 infos, i had an intense week on this source site http://www.geocities.ws/finnmilpge/fmp_contents.html  to make my story "square"!

(I hope my english doesn't sound too "cold", not my 1st language and i fear mine it's too simple)

Yes ; most of the time, creating alternate history means a solid amount of historical research ;)

Hi again A1_Phoenix

I was not sure about your intensions and I did not know you before.
Your skins look nice and fine in let`s say "what if " category ;)
Carry on with this type of art, looks good.
I wish you all the best.

Love the skins and the alternate history A1_Phoenix, I have skinned most of the types used in Finland at one time or other so it is nice to add these to
the collection.  8)

I also started a few what if skin sets usually based on what British industry had letters of intent for, most of those never reached the intended users because of the outbreak of WWII but they make interesting subjects and add a fun element to the game. ;)

Wishing you all the very best, Pete. ;D
