We have an Expansion Pack out soon with many new features, some fixes and a lot of addons.  Any 'bespoke' modified B.A.T.s will be unable to accept the new Expansion Pack until reverted to original format.  Therefore the excercise is, at best, a waste of time, or worse, destroys your B.A.T. install.

B.A.T. is a unique community within a community.  If you see a mod chances are we have it, are testing it, or can do so.  Mention it and post a link.  :)

How about individual planes? How can I install these instead?

Lets install bf109e4 for example: Put plane folder in your mod folder, example: copy the line to IL-2 Mod ativ 5.30 4.12.2\#SAS\STD\com\maddox\il2\objects open air file with note pad and paste   "Bf-109E-4         air.BF_109E4 2       g01   SUMMER"   in "air" file.
In IL-2 Mod ativ 5.30 4.12.2\#SAS\STD\i18n  in "planes" file, paste line  "Bf-109E-4       Bf-109E-4, 1940"     and in IL-2 Mod ativ 5.30 4.12.2\#SAS\STD\i18n  in "weapons" file paste
                      #####################################################################
# Bf-109E-4
#####################################################################
Bf-109E-4.default                       Default
Bf-109E-4.none                          Empty

Hi OrangeFr3ak,

Here’s a link that will be helpful if you’re up for a little reading.

https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,1353.0.html

This is an old post, but is the starting point.

Pay attention to the Note in RED.
The folders of interest for BAT are:

#DOF2- WWI Aircraft
#JTW2- Jet Era
#TGA2- Between the Wars
#WAW2- WWII Aircraft

Ignore Step 5, Don’t mess with the Buttons file(EVER)!

Do read the Troubleshooter link.
Read the AIR.ini link
Download 7zip, if you don’t have it.
Don’t read any of the reply’s in the Topic, they’re OLD and
no longer apply.

If you want to mod anything in IL2, remember one very
important thing: Back up, Make a copy,  Back it up!

For instance, if you want to add a plane to #WAW2,
simply copy the folder and add a dash in front of the pound sign,
like this -#WAW2 copy. This copy will be ignored by IL2.
This way if you totally screw things up in #WAW2, you can
always fall back to the copy.

Here’s the path to Air.ini in WAW2: Back it up.
IL2 Sturmovik 1946\#WAW2\STD\com\maddox\il2\objects\air.ini
You’ll be required to add your new plane to this file.

Here’s the path to the plane and weapons files in WAW2: Back them up.
IL2 Sturmovik 1946\#WAW2\STD\i18n\plane or weapons properties file
These may require changes.

Now here’s the most important advice I can give to any would be modder:
Read the Forum, Search the Forum, then read more.
99% of everything I know about modding was learned from reading this Forum.
It sometimes will take some digging, but it’s all in the Forum.
People are happy to help, but informed questions are preferred.

I’m not much for posting, but I’ve been modding a long time and it can be
challenging at times, but also quite rewarding and a lot of fun.
I hope this is of some help to you, Have FUN and don’t forget to fly!

having taken the time to read back through Orangefr3ak's previous posts, I can still ONLY repeat my previous advice, the same advice Monty gave..... leave it alone, your going to break it, then you will want people to fix it....

this will end in tears  ::(

It is pretty astonishing to read the replies to my first answer.  When you alter the various *.inis and properties files they will no longer be compatible with the Expansions.  That's no problem when you are familiar with the structure and backup the various elements.  If you want to experiment with modding you could do a lot worse than starting in Modact with #SAS folder.  Its smaller and easier to backup.

I have a feeling this is falling on stony ground, but there ya go...  :P

LOL YES, I agree. if thinking about adding mods to BAT - DON'T -, FIRSTLY Please just SIT On YouR hands, so they won't get you into trouble, and as everyone has already said, if it's NOT IN BAT , then it probably isn't worth putting it in BAT ...
just my two bobs worth ... 8)
