ONUC - Persian Sabres over Congo - BAT version
« on: February 19, 2017, 09:39:38 AM »

I have updated my ONUC F-86 campaign to work with BAT 3.2:

*update 17-10-29: v2.0 compatible with BAT 3.2*
https://www.mediafire.com/file/k3sula3i514ldms/ONUC_BATv2.zip

This is a semi-realistic 11-mission ground attack campaign set in Congo early 1963
You fly as Iranian pilot within the ONUC peace keeping mission.

The historical background is real, the missions are fictitious.

Very interesting, a little known scenario and era.
I've just downloaded the campaign. I will try it as soon as I can.

Thanks for sharing! :D

Hi Vampire, I am playing your campaign, veeery amazing!!  :) :) I always played WWII campaigns but is the first time I play a jet campaign!! Where can I found some guidelines to fly the Sabre? I played a lot of WWII planes but never a jet...

Just a thing: the skin folder it seems corrupted. I downloaded the campaign a couple of time but always when I unzip it showing the message "archive damaged" and in the skin folder several skins are missed or corrupted. Could you check, please?

Ciao!

Hello Markino.

I usually fly WWI and WWII scenarios, but I also like first generation jets (from WWII to Korean War). I feel that tactis are very similar to prop planes. The main differences are higher speed and higher gun power. Otherwise, you have to stick at the tail's enemy and use your guns. I feel that modern jets are a completely different story, with their heat guided missiles and countermeasures.

You can find a useful guide to IL2 F-86 Sabres, MiG-15s and MiG-17s here:

https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,15649.msg167945.html#msg167945

Direct link to the PDF guide:

A more detailed guide, but belonging to a different simulator (DCS=Digital Combat Simulator) can be found here:

http://server.3rd-wing.net/public/Manuels%20DCS/DCS%20F-86F%20Sabre%20Guide.pdf

And finally, you can find an original (real world) F-86 guide here:

Concerning the skins, I think I was able to download them without problems. I didn't have the "archive damaged" that you report. I unzipped the file with 7-zip and found no problems. Did you use win-zip or win-rar?

Good luck!

re: skins and damaged archive. did you download it again?

and not just let it "overwrite" the damaged archive, delete that zip file and then re-download and try again.

win-rar

I have dowload campaign again, Sabres skins was ok but not for the Texan. I recovery the KA-27 skin here: https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,48919.0.html.

Now all is ok.

Thanks !!

I updated the link in the first post to a version 2.0.

In BAT 3.2 the Texans got exchanged for a different Mod, breaking compatibility.
I updated the mission that uses the Texan (actually I use the SJN since it can carry gunpods) and provide a new unique Katanga skin for it.
