We really should not have been using them as long as we did. Change is not always easy or universally popular, but with the desire to continue with B.A.T. we had to make the hard choices and the right choices. We have so many new mods, and are generally more receptive to new projects than elsewhere, that out of date classfiles were starting to bite back and hurt the install. We had aircraft without complete soundsets because Tiger33's excluded them because they didn't exist when the original mod came out.
Since Tigersounds was only a WWII mod anyway - you have a solution right in front of you. I believe that the VPMedia Set does still support these sounds and has the great advantage of focussing on that area alone.
However, anyone who has flown, across all of the B.A.T. modules, with the latest Victor's Sound Mod (VSM) should certainly understand why it is the core sound base for B.A.T. Every time I try an aircraft I haven't seen for a time I get knocked out by the terrific new sounds. Anyone tried a helo lately? Or one of those farty blip-throttle jobs? Or a P-51 Mustang? I admit it, we got so overwhelmed by a few pre-recorded flybys we failed to see the wood for the trees (or whatever the aural equivelant is
). We still have great flybys. We actually have better flybys than ever before. Proper 'live' flybys generated by the aircraft themselves and with far more depth and variety than any soundset ever conceived or built for Il2, or anything else for that matter.
Its not just the flybys, the exterior sounds are all incredible, and the interiors too, plus the guns, the cannons, the thousand little clicks and whirs that saturate the sound environment. When the B.A.T. Team get together for weekly meetings over Skype we always mention some new sound we are enjoying again. Sorry to have to change, but we are not looking back...
