It must be stressed that all these systems which now got infected by EternalBlue / WannaCrypt have not received any Updates since two months at least.
Which gets us back to the old wisdom of "keep your OS updated!".

... yep, in most cases, the problem regarding security lies between the keyboard and the chair ...  :(

... but it also appears that there is no patch for Windows XP machines, and that most British NHS hospitals are still running XP computers ...  o_O

Just for the record: The spreading of this ransomware attack has been stopped a few hours ago, albeit by a stroke of good fortune.
