About copyright issues
« on: July 30, 2017, 07:26:44 AM »

Hi everyone,

I will possibily make a campaign in the future but it will include some mods. My question is: if I don't include the mod in the download just link it in the post like 'this mod is required' do I still have to contact the author, or giving credit is enough. If admins think this is a newbie question, then please move it to the Newbie board.

Thanks in advance,

No, there is no Copyrigtht issue. (The only person who has any copyright at all is Oleg Maddox, creator of the original game.)

No need to ask anyone's permission to make a mission or campaign that uses a specific mod, that's what mods are here for in the first place.

I would strongly advise against including mods in campaign downloads, nobody does that. Link to any mod that's necessary in the readme is enough.
That way anyone installing the campaign will always get the latest version of this mod and nobody is downloading useless data if they already have the mod.

If I understand you correctly, you can post your campaign and if mod/s are required for it, you can post a link to the needed mod/s and that should be fine considering the link takes you to their page and credits are posted there by them.
You could mention the maker of the mods with a thank you for it/them which would be nice.
