Bit torrent seems slow
« on: August 09, 2017, 09:51:20 PM »

I'm downloading the Bat Torrent files with the 29 parts in it. I have been downloading for 2 hours and only have 1.73 GB of 49.9 GB.

Average download speed 250.8 kB/s.
it says in time remaining 2d 12hr. I hope that doesn't mean 2 days and 12 hours.

Seeds 23 of 34, Peers 8 of 26.

I'm using the free bit torrent from bittorrent.com

I thought Bit torrent was fast!

Thanks for advice in advance,

rustydawg

Torrent transfers are as fast as your connection is to the seeding peers.
2d 12hr indeed means 2 days 12 hours ;)
250kB/s means that the transfer rate is 2 Megabits per second.
This might or might not be the speed your line can take, I have no idea what kind of internet connection you have in Arizona.

From my seeding system's point of view I see that a connection is established to your client, but the transfer speed is just about 20-30kB/s.
At the same time, the same systems serve other clients with 2MB/s and more, so this is merily an issue of either your client not being capable to download the files faster, or it's just bad luck that you don't have any capable seeder nearby (my seeding systems are 9 timezones away from your location and will therefore prefer other clients closer to them).

Best regards - Mike

I have a DSL phone connection, the speed I mentioned above is about the same speed everything else downloads. I supposed if I had a Broadband connection it would be much faster. Thank you for the info, you cleared a lot up for me about Torrents.

PS... And thank you very much for the great work you did with IL2 over the years. You and everyone else involved put new life in the game.
