« on: August 25, 2017, 11:32:29 AM »

Does anyone know of any skins/voids/templates for any of the Dragonflies?

All of these are Frankenstein Mods from existing planes, you need to find out is what the original aircraft was.

Dragonfly36 seems to be Mig-3U
Dragonfly39 is a P-39
Dragonfly42 is a G55
Dragonfly46 is a He-162

But beware! Frankenplanes may contain parts from other planes and therefore the skin is separated and these aircraft may not be skinnable at all.
You have to try and see what happens.

Also have Dragonfly 56, 86, and FAF. All of them all modernised 46, with missiles, so basically X-winged He-162 forward swept wing variant. So the same skins are basically usable. :)

It's been nine months, and still no luck finding dedicated templates, like those which must have been used for the default skins, for the Dragonflies. So I thought I'd refresh this request: are any purpose-made templates available for the frankenplane Dragonflies?

As always, any help would be much appreciated.

Your question was already answered.
These airplanes as a MIX of other airplanes.
You need to create a skin using the base template of the ORIGINAL aircraft, then look inside the files to see
if any other airplanes were used for making these "what-if" aircraft  ;)

It is not that complicated, but you need the main-Base aircraft for which they are from....

Dragonfly36 seems to be Mig-3U
Dragonfly39 is a P-39
Dragonfly42 is a G55
Dragonfly46 is a He-162

Thank you again, Max. My skills don't extend to exploring the files you mentioned, so I'll consult with someone who may have that knowledge.  8)

I don't get your point then. You ask for a "template". However, when you are given the templates needed, you say "this is beyond me".

Just grab a simple P-39 template (can be found maybe here or M4T... I am pretty sure there exists at least one) and then go skin your Dragonfly39 with that.

OOOOOooooohhhhh….. LOLOL  ;D I get it now. I'm afraid I tend to overthink things sometimes.  :P Just did some experimenting. I created a "Dragonfly39a" skin folder in Paint Schemes, loaded in a copy of a Mangas skin - Mangas-P-39N-1_Klubov.nm.bmp - and tried it in the QMB. Here's what happened:

Most of the Mangas skin, including the wing insignia, works on the 39A, but note the red nose, which replicates the red spinner in the Mangas skin. How would one go about coloring the 39A's pusher-spinner?

I tried a few other Dragonflies as well. The MiG-3U skins do indeed work perfectly well on the Dragonfly 36, and this evening I'll be trying skins for the butterfly-tail He 162/Dragonfly 46.

Once again, many, many thanks, and much appreciation for your continued patience, max and vampire_pilot.

That looks cool  8)
I do have a few of those Dragonfly aircraft in my game also, because they look soooo "Luft-1946"!
I have not had time to do some changes on them or paint some new
skins, but I will one of these days  ;)

I recently downloaded a P-39 template, what sort of skin are you wanting EHOOD? I might be able to put something together.
