So, I have lately been extensively trying out the A-6, it's an absolute joy to fly. Maybe a bit awkward in handling, but so is 99% of the jets in the game anyways... almost as if there is only so much we can do without going all out with external FM, it seems
Jokes aside, I noticed one thing - the relative fuel consumption seems extremely low. Tried doing some longer-ranged low-level strike missions into Viet Nam, and although it should be well within the combat radius without external tanks and with full bomb load (which currently is lacking 2 out of the 30 MK82's
), after the full run of the mission (300 km radius), the needle was still stuck at 70% (isn't coded to go beyond that), meaning the engine ate less than 30 % of the fuel. Since the combat range is 600 km (without loiter over target but with 20~ minute loiter/reserve upon return), one would expect more fuel to be burned, let's say, 40% after returning to the carrier. Which would be 40% per 600 km route. Double that for a route to target and back - 80%. Giving you a 20% fuel reserve.
Tried at half fuel to see how much it really consumes - turns out the fuel consumption now is about half of the real plane.
TFR alert when plane is too low;
If TFR stands for terrain following radar, then I have to disappoint you. TFR looks
in front of the plane, warning you for example that there is a mountain in front of you. Also, if you want to include a low-altitude warning, could you allow us to set the warning altitude manually or even turn it off?
I prefer flying well below 100 m.
