UP: changes in logging
« on: October 08, 2017, 06:51:05 AM »

Hi folks,
as we are using DCG/MDS for 7 years for our weekly sessions, I would like to ask if UP has any changes to the logging of the eventlog?
I think i can remember several discussions years ago about that topic.
Can anyone confirm or even better not confirm that UP takes changes to the logging of the eventlog.lst?

Are you talking about potential differences between UP3 RC4 and our latest Patch Packs in terms of eventlog.lst entries?
In that case I can assure you: Nothing changed.

No, its more about changes to eventlog in hsfx... or: Is DCG working with UP?

This was the problem in 2011: https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php?topic=16668.0
It seems to be there also nowadays: http://forum.jg1.org/topic/5211-dcg-not-working-with-up3/

Sounds strange.
We use UP3 with FBDj on our SAS Gameserver and FBDj relies on parsing the eventlog.lst too.
It's based on standard 4.10.1 code and the only thing needing fine-tuning was to add the missing objects to FBDj's database.

If UP3's eventlog was so much different like those guys claim, how come FBDj has no issues with it?
And if DBW works... DBW is UP3 minus MDS, so at best it would be that MDS would add some log lines to the eventlog, but if DCG can't understand them: What gives?

This might just be a mistaken remembrance on my part., but I thought it was the MDS logging change that broke DCG on Ultrapack. It was a very long time ago and I might just have it wrong.
