Jet Age - Vietnam era jets drop out of the sky
« on: October 09, 2017, 02:12:56 PM »

Hey all

Wasn't sure where to put this other than here...

A while back (read a month or two ago), I tried out the Navy F-4 Phantom II and A4 Skyhawk hoping to play some Vietnam stuff (I think I saw at the time a 'nam map or campaign or missions or something?).

But I encountered a problem - the jets just fall out of the sky.  I wasn't climbing in much of a climb off the runway, I was at about 1 on the climb indicators.

I couldn't seem to get any good airspeed in either of them, although it was worse in the F-4 Phantom II.  I had my airbrakes, flaps and undercarriage retracted so I know they weren't the cause.

Anyone know why this might happen?

Thanks in advance.

EDIT - I must have been doing something dumb because I just tried the F-4J at Edwards and it seems to fly OK.  A bit heavy but I wasn't dropping out of the sky (although I did try landing at 190mph...!!)
