Scoring one tank and one airplane with one single bomb, that's something one can only achieve by means of a properly coordinated attack as you did.  ]cheers[

Good video and a good lesson to pass on.  That's what you call losing situational awareness LOL.  I assume you guys had voice comms?

You are certainly not alone in these types of incidents.  I have been a victim (and also caused) similar errors with much embarassment all round LOL.  Either a bomb drop such as in the video or diving in and finding out that a fellow pilot is also diving in on the same target (with disastrous results).  We make it a point now to announce when we are "going in" (and if possible from which direction) to alert other pilots (particularly in IL2 1946 where distance vs detail can be problematic).

Yes indeed, blame it all on me.
We have been on comms (TeamSpeak) and Skylla clearly announced his pass. IIRC I have even ack'ed it.
I could explain that I was busy dealing with that filled bathtub called "Henschel" and lining up my attack against the ever-turning tanks properly, and the last sequence of the video shows that this worked quite well, I hit the tank exactly where I wanted to, right from behind/above and right between body and turret, and the stats say I've had some 60% hit rate, but all of this is no excuse for not having had a look for my teammate, especially when he announced the danger.

what video editing software do you use?
That was Sony Vegas Pro. I'm not good at it, for instance the video originally contained a sequence after the "meeting with god" where I've made a "VHS tape rewind" effect to get back to the beginning, but somehow I've managed to drop the track before rendering the video. My bad.

Speaking about bathtubs... If you fly (and fill) this particular one in IL2 1946 as well, how can you compare flight and damage models of Hs 129 in two games?

I don't have enough hours on the Henschel in IL-2 Great Battles yet, albeit I do have lots of them in 1946.
My experience so far is this:
  • Damage model in IL-2 Great Battles is much more detailed, but doesn't always feel quite right.
    For instance, the bomb blast effect in the video shown in this thread apparently caused exactly the kind of damage (and extent of) which was to be expected.
    That's something 1946 cannot do.
    IL-2 Great Battles is superior by far in this regard.
    However on my first sortie with the 129, the very first shell hitting my plane immediately took out the MK 101. That doesn't feel right.
    Add to that, the IL-2 Great Battles Henschel has no bigger gun than the MK 101 or MK 103. No BK 3.7. Therefore attacks against T-34 are futile, regardless which direction you choose.
  • The IL-2 Great Battles Henschel flight model apparently isn't finished.
    Feels like a stand-in flight model.
    Above 50% throttle there is "combat power" which is available for max. 30 minutes. Well... you can have more than 50% throttle without reaching combat power when you tune down the mixture below 20%, but this will cut out your engines :P
    The thing is: You cannot even fly straight @50% power with 10% fuel in the Henschel.
    This means that after max. 30 minutes, your flight forcibly ends. You go down and can't do anything against it.
    All in all, the plane feels too heavy, and it's extremely unstable in turns. Doesn't compare to the 1946 flight model at all.
  • Considering that the Hs-129A with Argus engines lacked 1/3 of the "B"'s engine power, with the IL-2 Great Battles flight model the "A" won't ever get off the ground.
  • Pilot position in the IL-2 Great Battles Henschel is plain wrong.
    Looking from outside, the pilot looks like he's sitting half way between his seat and the front panel.
    The Henschel cockpit is known to be extremely cramped, there'd be no other position for the pilot but very back in his seat IRL.

Bottom line is that the IL-2 Great Battles Henschel looks great, far superior to 1946, including the look of it's damage model.
It feels plain wrong though.

Mike, thanks for good analysis. Hopefully, they will improve Hs 129 in Great Battles eventually. "Niche" aircraft for some real "perverts"...  :)  I loved to fly it online in 1946.

Me? I'm like.."Hey, It flies! Lets go find an enemy, get'em in the gun sight and pull "fire".
Flying with the ass-clowns, though.. that would probably raise the bar.

You know, I've split a lot of things already, but most of the time .. it was my plane. Damn trees! The worst enemy of them all! :)
