Fw200 3D Fix/New Spinners
« on: May 28, 2010, 03:38:47 AM »

Small visual update for the Fw200. The old spinners were absolutely hideous, so I pinched these shiney new ones from the Fw190. I've also corrected the positions of the spinners, because they were all off centre, one of them very badly so (I have a theory this plane was finished after a Maddox Games office party ;))

Download Here.
<download removed>
The spinners aren't mapped to the skin so if you want a different pattern the way to do it is to load up a skin with the spinner you want on a Fw190A, then go into cache and find the .tga file called skin1o. Copy and paste this into the FW-200C-3U4 folder, rename it SP, and it will show up on your Fw200.

I may also be updating the engine cowlings at some point, but since this would involve doing some 3D work and remapping the Fw190A4's cowling its not something I can do as quickly as this was done, so don't hold your breath for it ;D

Regards

Edit: Because of the bugs involving the ground handling (see posts on this page for details), I've taken down the download link for the version with new spinners. The original version of this mod, which only fixes the off-centre no.3 spinner and is bug free, can be downloaded here

Sweetness, thanks a bunch!

Finally it starts to look like a plane that got attention instead of a rushjob. :D

Hey David,

big THANKS for this Mod, looks absolutely good.

One Problem I notied is, the Engine 3 is the only one, that powers the plane forward.
The rest engines also speed up by power, but don't grip.

I tried to strat the FW-200 on ground... it only turns around
and there is only dust behind engine 3.

Can you have a look on it please?
Thank you :D

Yep, nice side effect :D

Well, I don't know really what causes this issue... there only is the hier.him, some meshes, mat-files and a tga.

I tested a bit, and it looks like it has to do with the PropRot files...but how?

I let the hier.him as it was, just deleted the meshes, mats and tga... spinners was inside out, but all went fine, dust behind all engines
and good start from ground.

All mats and meshes back to folder...and issue showed up again.
Hope it helps.

I've had a look at this problem, and I'm pretty sure it has to do with the way the PropRot meshes of the Fw200 were made facing in the opposite direction from the stationary Prop files. Every other Il2 model I have looked at has the Prop and PropRot meshes naturally facing in the same direction, but on the Fw200 the default PropRot files are reversed to fit the aircraft, and to get the new PropRot files to work I had to undo this.

Since the plane flew just fine with the new props I didn't think to check the ground handling, so my bad there :(

I think to get the new props to work it would be necessary to change the aircraft's classfiles or the FM, and I don't know how to do this. In the meanwhile I'm going to change the download link to the version of the mod I first released, which just fixed the off-centre no.3 engine spinner. I have checked there are no problems with the ground handling in that version :D
