Video: B-26 Marauders on Guadalcanal, Final Raids on Rataka Bay
« on: February 03, 2018, 10:50:07 PM »

Composite of my last three B-26 missions against the sea plane base at Rataka Bay
on Santa Isabel in the Solomon Islands - 1943.
Home of "Washing Machine Charlie",
this remote base was bombed repeatedly by the USAAF and the US Navy.
Never thought I'd be sick of palm trees and the surf but I've had it and I'm heading back to Europe.
Next: Monte Cassino.

Great job anitek! A beautifully produced and engrossing production. I have watched a good number of your 'movies' and really look forward to more of them. Monte Cassino sounds really spectacular. Thank you for all your hard work! :)

... that's why I seldom fly in the PTO, way too much water and palm trees, not to say a word about sharks ...!  :P

By the way, the Japanese engine starter truck was totally useless to start an American AC engine, as those didn't have the necessary slot in their spinners ...  ;)

Fantastic!  What are you using there - is it BAT?  Campaign?  Single mission?

> Peter Lynn - Thanks for taking the time to watch.
Comments are very inspiring and the incredible work provided by the talented modders here on SAS really keep me going.
And I live in Los Angeles, California..so the bar on video production can be set a little high.
You gotta tell a story..gotta have a beginning and and end..gotta have a "plot".
Thank God I'm not working with actors and that I can can get rushes from IL2.
When YouTube took down their editor I had to start working with Adobe Premier and it's turning out to work very well with a quad core.  :)
> Mick - Yeah I have read about this Marauder Squadron on Guadalcanal. They were not happy. The place sucked and they had losses. But holding that airfield may have done more to screw up the Japanese war effort than taking Manila. I have a guy perched on the lifter of the starter truck in front of the engine.
Figured the ground crews at Henderson would have used it anyway as a mover and lifter. :)
> Ghostrider - 4.12.2 with VP Modpack..Stock Map of Solomon Islands..and I made it in the Full Mission Builder.
Palm tree and AI intensive and can cause frame drops so I recommend building your own Henderson Field and adding objects for immersion. And there's no scripting for this so I guess that's single mission.
Any questions I'll be happy to answer. :)

Happy Flying, Chaps, and many, many thanks to the all the pilots and ground crew here at SAS.
