First, has some newer game version tackled the issue where both a magnetic and a gyro compass exhibit the very same rotational, in-step behavior?

As we know, a magnetic compass tends to 'lock' or stick when the aircraft attitude is notably off level. Furthermore, the mechanism tends to tip, tilt and oscillate at least somewhat when the ship is maneuvering.

By contrast, a gyro compass has its ring constrained to a fixed plane, and generally does not 'lock' when a/c attitude is extreme. Moreover, ring rotation is instantaneous, exactly in step with plane orientation, and without lag.

For these reasons each type of compass should never exhibit the very same behavior.

It bothers me to see a gyro compass tape always mirroring the same rotational action as for the magnetic compass. Such as 'locking' during large bank angles, and then 'springing loose' and quickly spinning to the correct heading angle after the plane comes nearer to level.

Can code be written so that each compass retains its unique behavior when both are present?

I'd like to see this come to my P-40 cockpit mod...
