thats what I tried to convey.... I can still remember LucasArts SWOTL which first introduced those black dots on the windscreen, simulating oil...now those were glorious times....

as Poltava has released a rework of his rather nice F7F Nightcats campaign for JTW, I could offer a rework of the F7F-3N which includes a working radar pit;
this would make nightfighting a little easier I think and the Nightcat a little bit more realistic....

I have to add I am not the author of the rework, I just found the least intrusive way to add the radar operator pit to the Night at we already have in the game with the files available here...

A drawback with ships in Il2 is that they all tend to have different default speeds. This makes creating convoys and carrier groups in FMB a real PITA. To alleviate this I change the ship speeds in my game, and I’m wondering if there is wider interest in this for the next update of BAT.

Suggestion (a)

I change all merchants to a default speed of 13 knots – which was the usual speed for ‘fast’ convoys in WW2. This makes creating a convoy an absolute breeze.

Suggestion (a).1

I do not currently do this, but it might also be a good idea to set typical convoy escort vessels to that speed for the same reason. This might include all the corvettes, the Japanese escorts, and the US 4-stackers (which were too old and slow to do much else). To make them easy to identify, technics.properties could also be adjusted to reflect the role in the object list e.g.

USS Dent DD116 (escort)

Suggestion (b)

I change all carriers (including CVLs) to a default speed of 26 knots. This usually gives more than enough pace for carrier take-offs.

Additionally, I change the default speed of the typical task force vessels as well – BB, CA, CL, and DD.

With this technique, compiling a convoy or Task Force in FMB takes a few minutes at most, and removes the slog of manually changing the speed of each ship in the group.

If there is sufficient interest in this change, which is basically a simple, if rather laborious, task, I am willing to amend the relevant files (ships.ini, technics.properties) if the devs think it would be an improvement.

Yours,

Clive

A have a job for a volunteer:

A full rework the JTW weapons.properties would be a nice thing to have. Someone wants to volunteer?

I'll volunteer, vampire, as long as it is within my very limited knowledge and expertise (see recent speech issue if you want proof!).

WxTech's fix for the shoreline turbulence:

This makes wind dependent objects like flags and windsocks flicker erratically.

Shame. Bouncing up and down when you fly over a riverbank is so annoying.

My suggestion fot the next BAT Patch: It would be fine to include all wonderful italian Warships created by Ashehouse. We lack several of them  in WAW.

It would be nice, but you can add them yourself with a bit of fiddling:

Spica installs fine.
Poeti class is a simple repaint of an existing ship, so also fine.

I can't get the Navagatori to run at all - 70% crash.

Same with Caio Duilio, but there is a workaround with the Novorossiysk, so you can add the BB.

If you need any help with them let me know (I could probably put an install pack together for you).

Clive

I would like when the bombers actually would hit something.
Most of the time they are just bombing in front of the target. Somewhere in time something must have happened here and it was never corrected (and i dont think it was the mods).
In hard coded campaigns they are ok of course if the mission builder is even interested (often the bombers are just decoration, or a kind of a flying target, but cant hit a barn literally)

Modify: Im speaking about the AI
