Curtiss Falcons in Latin America
« on: March 23, 2018, 11:12:46 PM »

Here's a follow-on skin pack covering the Curtiss A-3 in its export form, usually referred to as the Falcon D-12 which was also an inline engine aircraft of basically identical design. A number of these were exported to Latin America - both land and float plane versions. Chile was a primary customer.  Several of its aircraft subsequently made their way to the Brazilian Army Air Corp (four in total).  At least one D-12 was flown by Paraguay during the Chaco war with Bolivia. Also at the beginning of the Laticia conflict, the most potent aircraft on the Amazon was a D-12 float plane named "Ricaurte".  It was the solo example of the in-line engine version flown by the Colombians during the conflict and was acquired with private funds.  It flew both in float and land configuration (both skins included). By contrast, the Colombians flew a number of the radial engine version (skins for another day ;)). So here's a collection of skins in HD and 1024 representing D-12's of those countries.  From what I can tell D-12's of all four countries participated in combat operations of one type or another, either during internal conflicts or dust ups (Chaco war and Laticia) with neighboring countries.   Land based Falcons go in the Curtiss A-3 folder.  The float planes into the Curtiss 37F D-12 folder.  A big thanks again to Zflyer for all his terrific new additions to Golden Age aviation!!
