Will there ever be an ability to spot submarines underwater at periscope depth? Will submarines get to lower and raise their periscopes? U-boats and other submarines would lower their periscopes before firing their torpedoes to prevent their subs from being spotted.  I am just tired of seeing this whole thing where the submarine's periscope ALWAYS protrudes out of the water and is constantly there, as I see it.

I remember playing SH4 and with certain mods, you submarine would be spotted at periscope depth as a greenish, murky blob type thing in the water.

  • A day without laughter is a day wasted

As far as being able to see a submerged sub try doing a search for " submarines ". You will be able to find the thread if you look.
As far as you being tired of seeing the periscope all the time, this comment sounds a little rude. Those of us who mod are growing fewer in numbers, comments such as that are part of the reason.

Maybe join us in modding and see if you can find a way to do what your asking others to do?

No - after firing the periscope remained raised till the firing officer could control the damage. It was lowered only at the end of the attack when the submarine began its escape course.
The periscope was lowered before the launch when the submarine dived to approach its target undetected, then it was raised periodically for short inspections of the situation, till the launch position was reached.
Remember that most of the time the submarine navigated on surface of the water and submerged only to attack or when under attack.

If only we could have submergable submarines in the game that dive when under attack.

This is what I am talking about when I mean submarine visibility at periscope depth.

Here's the mod Bombsaway was talking about, I think, if you had searched 'periscope submarine':

Sounds sort of what you're looking for.
