Thank you! To check why something is not working is one of the most interesting part of the game ;-) You may be also the first one who uses the prog exept me.

Good luck! You may have more problems further on, but for shure you will also solve these.

I hope you are wrong!

It works very well for me now and I'm also using your other useful tools for map making. ]thumbsup[

Many thanks for making them!  :)

Hi Nowekat

I've been using Objectset 1.2 now fore a while, it's a great tool for map building!  ]thumbsup[

Is it possible to improve the object placement in the transition areas?
So the objects would be placed according to the tile that is most visible?

Here are some screenshots showing what I mean:

Purple lines: Here could some more houses been placed from the most visible tile.
Red crosses: Houses placed from a tile not much visible, shouldn't be placed at all.

Best regards

This a difficult task, as the program does'nt know when and which template it has to fill halfway. I remember i experimentated with a kind of "Recognize boarding templates"-procedure, but this failed.

If i remember well, with my SWIEurope map i made it somehow like this using gimp:

Expand the map_t 2 times, so 1 pixel = 100 m.
Select within a copy of the map_t the template you want to handle.
Expand these areas for 1 pixel and save.
Create a population file for this template with this map_t using the size factor 2 with objectset.

As with factor 2 the resolution is 100 meter, the boarders of the selected and expanded templates will be filled halfway. For the map istself you use the original map_t of course.

Possibly you may get better results using a 50 meter resolution and fill only 50 meter, i do not remember exactly what i used.

Hope this will work for you!

Hi Nowekat

Thanks for the tip, but I'm not sure I have understood correctly...  :-[

My mapT is 2400x2080, so I resize it 4800x9600 and expand these areas for 1 pixel and save.
I have to do one resized map_tBIG.tga version for each RGB I want to populate, so in my case it would be 4 versions.
That seems a lot of work, not sure I have the energy to do that....  :(

Best regards

I don't have time for maps anymore but I would try this program if I had the time.

I've always wanted to update my old Puerto Rico map because it was mostly not populated.
If anyone would like to populate the Puerto Rico map then let me know.

I've been doing some testing to understand how the different resolutions work.

maptBIG.tga 2400x2080 with resolution 200 (default setting):
Note that the roads and rails have been cleared from objects in this image.

maptBIG.tga 4800x4160 with resolution 100:
Note that only the object placements for the city tile has been modified.

maptBIG.tga 9600x8320 with resolution 50:
Note that only the object placements for the city tile has been modified.

In this example a resolution of 50m give the best result IMHO.
