A couple of post war Spitfires (22 & 24)
« on: August 25, 2018, 05:40:23 AM »

well, post WW2 anyway, since some saw action elsewhere.

In 1950 Britain sold several F22 to Egypt and Syria from RAF surplus. They came in Highspeed Silver from the depots.

Egypt

Syria

At some point the Syrian Spitfires received the same green/brown camo scheme as their Meteors

Rhodesia also operated F22s. They have been operated along the Vampires until the late 60s or even early 70s.

with the 1953 - 63 markings

post 63 markings

RAuxAF 603 Sqn "City of Edinburgh", 1950s

RAF 73 Sqn, Malta 1948

F24 of RAF 80 Sqn Hong Kong 1950s
