    This is happening on a  Windows 10 computer....it worked ok for a few times and then wanting to exit a completed  quick mission.....the  "esc" button had no effect....i hated to use the  Control Alt  delete....To end it......then to get   back what a terrible time......i have read about this issue before...I  wanted to know IF its been solved.....any idea will be appreciated........Thank you

Could be some 3rd party software thing because the number of users suffering from this issue is rather small.
I for one have never ever seen this happening in IL-2 Great Battles (even though in 1946, I have similar issues quite frequently).

IIRC the easiest way to work around this is to alt+tab out of the game and alt+tab back in again.
That should get your ESC key back working.

If that's the case, then there's probably some kind of software stealing away the input focus from your IL-2 Great Battles game.

I'm having exactly this problem (although I'm on Win7 and not Win10).
I programmed my joystick to send certain "button pressed"-signals for a longer time (e.g. for raising flaps). While the control input is being sent, it is impossible to open the escape menu.
Maybe something similar is happening on your end too?

You probably have some swich or slider sending a command actively. You can check this by ALT+Tab out of the game and start notepad, it will register whatever keycommand that is active! Release the swich, key or slider and it will stop. I usually forgret to put the flapskey to neutral (TM Warthog) or the gear-key. I now have changed the keyscomms in target scripts that don´t need to be held with the PULSE command. this way I have less hickups with the ESC key.

    Last night after trying a whole gob of different things to TRY to get out of the game the right way using the Esc key !.....I finally discovered IF i opened the game as "Administrator" it would play as expected and quit using the  Esc key....I opened and played many times and each time when i  started the game off the desk top icon...i  flew a few missions and quit the game using the esc key.......Yaaaaaaaaa it worked ever single  time.

One more thing though, it sounds as if your game is in C\program files!? For your convinience, get it out of there, windows UAC starts making troubles when you get updates to the game. Anywhere else on a HDD (or preferably on a seperate disc) will prevent W from giving you problems! We are many among us who have had issues when in c\.program files
