@ stiv_069 - Cool! Reminds me of this video where Russian caught Hind flying near the road! 8)

@ bomberkiller - Thanks for the info, just double checking since I have no knowledge of this car.

@ max_thehitman - I could do that, but then in that case, what would I learn/practice in taking other people's meshes and using them as a base? For me the whole learning extent is to by scratch and only reference images and such, get an idea of what to do. I mean, when we come to 'rework' and the term, I wouldn't call this a rework, again this model was strictly a 'Low Poly' style mod so it will perhaps have details of Low Poly, but nevertheless I will add detail and try to stay in this theme as I like it. 8) But thank you for the links, they are a good reference point and I see what you mean, I will try my best to have something similar.

@ SAS~Storebror - Tell me about it, though, it may be a while until I can get polies/vertices that high in count to still appear good. :P

@ Piotrek1 - Thank you! I myself am sort of actually looking into buying this car now, haha~

@ Mission_bug - Hi Pete! Glad you like it! BUT WAIT. THERE'S MORE.

WHAT???
Version 2.0 to come out!?
This change is so big, the 1.0 had to be replaced with Version 2.0!!

Teaser teaser.

Edit: It is NOT 6K polys, it's a 3DS Max bug where if you Control+A, the total polys of everything including hidden objects get calculated.

Thanks for filling a gap in the list of modern vehicles.

I did not say to take the other cars meshes and 3d-modeling stuff, what I meant was to take a look at the others and make
for your car a simple interior , something simple.
Very low-poly seats and not much 3d-work on it.
The skin will later add more details to the interior.

Version 2.0 looks pretty cool. I really like that version too.
With all the new 3d details, does it still keep in the limits for the IL2-1946?

This is cool!

One of my x g/f's had a Samara. The car had a lot of "personality".

If you let the water in the windshield wiper reservoir run out, the pump would burn out.

If you took a corner quickly, the indicator needles would swing from side to side.

This brings back memories.

Thanks for doing this

@ David Prosser- That really wasn't my intention since as I said, it was more of a practice work piece and stuff, but with the details and work being put into this, yeah it can be taken as one. 8) Hope you enjoy V2.0 when it comes out.

@ max_thehitman - My bad, I have no idea why I said what I did, thinking you told me to take others meshes, I must have been smoking something reaally good or so... Oopsie.

And yes of course - it will have full functioning LoD's and stuff to keep FPS optimal, so long as you don't place 3,000 of them! :))
Lastly, I will provide a UV Map as always for those who wish to re-texture or improve it (hint hint). ;)

@ WOW66- Hope it's good memories my man. This Lada Samara is one hell of an interesting car. Modelling and working on it has made me grow to love it more than having had worked on my own actual E36 haha~ I really want a Lada Samara now.

@ -whateveryouarestopchagningyournameplz - I don't know, will it?

P.S. I probably won't be able to work on the Samara today as I'm going to be spending majority of my time working on my GMC Sierra today (needs some TLC) so I'll be in the garage. I wanted to release it today, but give me approximately 2 days. If I get into the zone, I should actually be able to finish it by tomorrow afternoon, GMT+4. :P

Ghost-man, you will never guess what happened today ?!  ;D
I was walking along in the city nearby and I saw Your car !! AAAHA! A Lada Samara !
I thought these cars were "extinct" , but no, there was one parked right in front of me!
Light blue colored with a few scratches and a broken tail-light. I got a good look at it for reference
as my cellphone was out of battery.  I had no way to take a photo with my cellphone.
But I got a good look at it. Nice car, very 1980s styling... but I still like and drive my old
1998 Opel Corsa Sport  ;D

@ max_thehitman - No waaaay! That's a sign that this mod is meant to be! 8) I've tried my best to do the UV mapping in such a way that skinning it will be reasonable (we've had some mods with God Awful UV mapping...) and somehow can make the inside look better than nothing.. Though I will admit I did a quick/sloppy job with the inside and made it very basic and enough to only see what you can from outside since we won't be sitting inside it anyways...

Might have to end up releasing this tomorrow as I had no time to work on the Samara and have been quite busy, but it's getting there! Hang on guys, V2.0 inbound!  8)

Too sleepy to work, will import and test into IL-2 tomorrow. Most of the UV work is practically finished but might need an expert to skin it properly before release.

The livery/texture isn't final - I was testing what if people want to make their own skin on IL-2, since I mapped the UV that it is possible for people to make a rally version of the car. 8) So skinners, you will enjoy skinning this vehicle if you can get very creative - mine is not even a half ass attempt, perhaps even a quarter ass attempt at recreating the livery.

P.S. My render settings on 3DS Max are mucked up, so it may not look proper/or how it will in IL-2 as the Gamma/somethingelse was auto adjusted and is a different render mode than stock.
