Using online missions offline
« on: February 19, 2019, 10:23:15 AM »

I saved the running mission (LCtrl+R) of this server (http://metal-war.steelskies.net/de/) and loaded it locally afterwards to practice a bit. Everything went well online, locally the targets had disappeared even though they were displayed in the ingame map. Does anyone have an explanation?

I'm no expert , but it sounds as if only part of the .mis file was grabbed.
Open the .mis file in notepad and have a look.

I expect what you'll find is no or null entries after a certain point.

I have never tried to do this , so I don't know what is and is not possible.

I am going to try to do this tonight and see what happens.

Perhaps a grown up can chime in.

Oh shoot , this is for BOS.
Strike everything I said.
Me and steam don't have anything going.

Sorry to mislead.

Blaubaer, if you're on a server and a mission is running, record a short track, then go to the folder of the recorded track (typically "..\data\Tracks\[mission folder]"), then copy the content of it (one *.mission file and several language files) to the Missions folder, than rename all files so that you can remember it. Hope it helps.

I'm afraid not.
If I take a mission from the FAC server, everything works as planned. With the mission from the other server, the targets remain disappeared.

Once the online mission files are loaded, you should find them in the [Game]\data\Multiplayer\Dogfight\[mission files] folder.

It should be noted that the "Checkzone" Trigger doesn't work correctly when you run a Multiplayer (DServer) mission as a player-hosted game (i.e. you open up a new Multiplayer Game in your game client).
This has been logged as a bug here: https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/13160-multiplayer/?page=2&tab=comments#comment-597361

As a result, when you host missions from your own game client which ran fine on a DServer, they might or might not run well on your player-hosted game, depending on how much (and in which way) Checkzone Triggers have been used on that mission.

Workaround: Get yourself a DServer License and host the mission on your PC locally with your own DServer instance.

Thanks for your clues. I'll give it a try sometime soon.
