Here is an idea for a little update.
I havenĀ“t had much time yet to work on this airplane, but I was able to give it a new crew (pilot-skins with life-vests from 1942) and
add more detailed skins for the interior cockpit and inside parts. Now it has an opened door in the cockpit compartment
which you can see what is inside the cargo-hold .
 I have also re-positioned the windows to their correct locations
and made them trasnparent ( a pixel-by-pixel process) so they look rounder all around.
Still working on a more detailed skin-template, but that is not finished yet.

Dear friends,
I use 4.13.4 version with SAS Modact 6.4. BV-222 runs OK for me, but only in a QMB mission or any other created single mission starts in the air. Once landed and switched off the engines, I can no more switch them on. Created a mission with taking off, and failed to switch the engines on. When using autopilot, I get messages of engines switching off only. Is there any reason for failure of engine switching on?

Dear all,

I have a similar problem, I tried to install this plane, I followed all the instructions in the readme and added it in #SAS folder with JSGME and Modact 6.0, the plane shows up in the list but in QMB I can't view it nor select the loadout, since there is none, sometimes it even shows "SAS placeholder" or just blank, so it doesn't load at all(once it gave instead a big 3D wheel with SAS writings and a yellow smile...) and can't be flown. What should I do? Could you help please?

edit: The mod folder is still named "!_BV222" with an exclamation point(isn't it a C++ operation?) but removing it changes nothing. I have the required SAS AI flyables with sas_ai_3do01.sfs in SAS AUTO folder.

The ! is just to order it up and down the alphabet, to ensure it is loaded near the top. The order of how mods load matters in case of file conflict.

without a log (!!!!) I can't guess any better than: Maybe you miss a HD mod ?

Thanks, sorry for the delay, nothing changed with the mods names order...by the way I never had mods(like HD mods) that can conflict somehow with this plane so far. Also the perfect 3D model shows up in objects view, on correct order put in air.ini, but does not in QMB view and can't be used along with weapons loadout issues, and in game the aforesaid wheel with yellow smile appears in place of the plane on water, so you just come skimming closer and see this smiling face floating in the middle of ocean... :)) lol

Anyways I learned about the IL2 logs and its options, I'm using an older PC now on holidays, and despite the age I don't think its videocard can't handle pixel shaders or vertex buffer as the log says, which I remember are graphic techniques even older than IL2 1946. Maybe I have the wrong driver for the directx wrapper, but it can't be the problem, I hadn't graphic nor other problems so far.

Does my log ring any bell? Does anyone know why the BV222 can't be flown at all? The log says nothing more I'm afraid, the flight model is loaded from correct file but neither player nor AI can use it. Please help!

So, would anyone know what should I do to install this plane? Very well then, if you can't help or too shy to do it screw it, because I found the solution! There was an error in the files by Ranswers. Good luck finding it. And at last, I would really thank farafonoff, for his hos...cough*, oh dear.

OK The previous BV222 did not have this issue as every load was given. ( Like CargoA ).

So first I have searched for Fuel: BV-222.24xFuel   =  BombGunFuelDrum200_101__Weapons_Special_CargoBox
Try this one and see what happens. All my loadouts appeared in test, but my test file is big...

If the model does not appear at all in QBM, that strange, cause the model is simple enough to have no other requirement other then a modac in 412.2 SAS 5.3.    ( Flyables: I have disabled the flyables without issue for BV-222 )
U say "Modact 6.0": so I presume either HSFX or 413 issue, neither being my game.
Finally:  directx is poor and troublesome for IL2, better use Open GL.

Was the problem with restarting of engines after landing solved? I tried to create a mission with taking off from the water, but failed to start the engines. I can start them when standing on the runway only. I suppose that engines are somehow damaged when the aircraft is drifting on the water. Is there any clue to solve this problem with this important and beautiful seaplane?  :)

Hi marat,

just tested in BAT. Initial water start (not on a water 'airfield'), start engines, , takeoff, land, stop engines, restart - all fine.

I have problem only when starting engines on water, not on concrete/ground runways. If to start the mission in the air, everything is OK. After landing on water I am not able to restart engines again
