TGA additions to improve campaign & mission building
« on: March 06, 2019, 01:40:28 PM »

Gents,

I am slowly getting into BAT and I am most impressed. THANKS to all involved! I think I understand the complexities of putting the modules and the updates together, and I do understand that the borders between the modules never can and never will be razor sharp.

But I do have some suggestions when it comes to TGA, a period that I am very much interested in, and that I've built a number of campaigns for. The Spanish Civil War part of it is GREAT, and is now well catered for in TGA. So I do hope to start converting some of my old SCW campaigns to TGA soon!

What would be really super, if some material connected mainly to the Sino-Japanese War and the Nomonhan Incident was added to TGA. Most of this material can now be found in WAW, some of it is still not in BAT. By doing this it would add greatly to the campaign and mission building potential of BAT. More general BAT content would be the final result, I think. (I for one would jump at it, as hinted above.) And there is no need to take anything out of WAW - only include in future additions of TGA  :)

We are not talking about any huge amount of material here. I am thinking of these aircraft:
  • Mitsubishi Ki-15
  • Kawasaki Ki-3
  • Mitsubishi Ki-30 "Ann"
  • Kawasaki Ki-32 "Mary"
  • Tachikawa Ki-36 "Ida"
  • Mitsubishi B2M1/2
  • Yokosuka B4Y1 "Jean"
  • Yokosuka B3Y1
  • Curtiss Hawk III
  • Martin B-10B
  • Boeing P-26 "Peashooter"
  • Curtiss Hawk 75H
  • Plus all stationaries - for all aircraft that have one, that is

And I know it's easy-peasy to compile a list of gimmegimme-additions, and quite another thing to actually do it. (As they say in my country: "It's easy to say "A rose", very difficult to do one".) But I do think it would be a great improvement of TGA (and BAT)!

Just thinking out loud here!
 :)

Understood and agreed, though I am not a BATter yet.  I've broken my DBW into "modules" 1938 through 1946, each year a separate module.  I started this long ago with DBW and fear of the "Java wall".  There is an incredible amount of over lap as one progresses from year to year.  The aircraft mentioned are splendid editions working in my DBW.  Cheers and prost Gentlemen

Hi ! I guess that some ships could be welcome in TGA too :
Most of those are historically appropriate and could be of great use for any history and fantasy scenario.
(I am aware that they can be added 'manually', and that's what I usually do. But ships can be difficult to add properly for newcomers, sometimes...)

Uhm... Poltava, what version of BAT are you runng??
Because most, if not all of those planes actually are already in TGA in BAT 3.5 (which is the latest version)

yeah, so. Please update and check again.
It's not all of them actually and not all stationaries either but a lot of them

These kind of threads only make some sense if you check from the latest version.
