I has been totaly stunned by te event taking place around the Shiny Twelve Battles attacks on the Vroenhoven and Veldwezelt bridges over Albert Channel near Maastricht. This has dug up a helluva story around the squadrons involved in this attack, like the reason for armorplate in pilotseat of hurrycanes happends.
During the early stages pilots behavior was somehow naive or even stupid

. in November 1939 No1. Squadron shot down two Do17, the pilot on one of them made a favourable impression during the battle. "pussy" Palmer close the longeside of the bomber to check it out, The DO 17 pilot trottled back and slid behind Palmers hurrycane and hit it with a burst of fire from the single forward-firing mg. Resulting after beeing prisoner he was entertained to dinner with No.1
Palmer was extremly lucky as one of the bullets came through the back of his seat narrowly missing his head.
As a result of this The CO acquired a armorplate from a wrecked Battle and got it fitted in one of the hurrycanes.
After testflying it FO "Hilly Brown was despatched to headquarters in Englend to demonstrate that the arnorplate did not, as was the informed opinion in higher headquarters, adversely affect the Hurrycanes centre of gravity. Faced with irrefutable proof, the Air ministry instituted the fitting of armor plating in all Hurricanes.... Jeez..English is hard to write. By the way cred for this tale goes to Ray leach "Hurrycane Salute"
...
Yes i do agree , i was very interessted in the event of Shiny Twelves pilots awarding double VC. so now i read 2 different point of wiews during the slaugther at may 12 1940 The one from No.12 Squadron of not getting promised fighter escort and the one from the No1. sqadron witch was given the task to escort the Battles. I has made an Singlemission of this day, and forgive me for posting it here. atleast only to read the story. The story has the credits in them witch is Andrew Thomas and Ray Leach. I have not included the total of AA and AC for obvious reasons. The berry-au-Bac airfield is close to reims (No 1 airfield) so i put it closer to frontline for less flyingtime. The battles are airstarted to save time, but the landing is historical.
I put pilot as PO McIntoch wingman in one of the battles but if u want to be "Digger" choose one of the hurryes. Sorry if I brake any rules by post it here if so i am very sorry and just remove it. I dont want to brake any rules
