Hello every body,
After a very long period of absence I am happy to see the improvements you have made to our map.
Kevin and I have not been able to consult with each other so much in the past few months. For my part, I didn't have any possibility of upload (internet failure and lockout in France)... However, I was able to develop new features and aerodromes on Green Hell.
First, I admire the work done by vpmedia on the tone of the textures and especially the great idea to spread pop-up trees on the textures of jungles! The effect at low altitude is striking ... His layout of the pack is also very clever.
I don't forget the improvements made by WxTech, his second version of fps friendly coconut palms are for all pacific (and MTO) maps a major enhancement.
With them I consider no need to suppress palm trees around any airfield.
So I continued to work on original static.ini and added some new 1943 features:
Alexishafen airfield Danip and Number 2 airfield
Alexishafen village and its incredible Cathedral
The "German" road from Madang to Alexishafen
Nadzab airfield which already existed before 1943 airborne operation (just a small non-operational airstrip at this time) and Narakapor pre-war
Three "forgotten" operational airfields in New Britain:
Gavuvu (Cap Hoskins)
Tobera
Keravat
Two others non ops:
Drina airstrip west of jacquinot bay, reported as abandoned or Japanese emergency strip according to different sources...
Rakada airfield, located on Duke of York island (east of Rabaul) in construction by 1943
Two operational airdromes in New Ireland:
Namatanai and Borbops airfields
And finally, Narewa airfield in Woodlark island.
A lot of work could still be done to improve some places but I do not have skill for that, I hope Kevin will have time again to complete the static and improve airfields I made on my own. Anyway we should meet next week and decide to say this map is no more a WIP. As we do not have enough authorization we hope someone will be kind enough to move it to PTO maps when ready...
Screenshots will follow...
