Not sure this specifically helps, as it is Guadalcanal. But surprising how open much of the land is and an amazing photo over the battlefield!

Thanks guys,

Yes Mandrill, that’s actualy the idea we also have of New Guinea and also the Solomons, maybe, maybe (?) at a lesser extent in the Solomons than in PNG, just an impression.
Worth noticing for those who have watched it, the movie "The Thin Red Line" that has been shot there on site, at Guadalcanal. It shows how large those (Kunai ?) grass areas can be.

Now straight to the point, we have a good news, and a bad news. The good news is that there is only one bad news : we wanted to apologize, due to professional circumstances on my side, i’ve been away from home and a properly equiped computer for 2 weeks and will be until june comes, which causes delay in the process of releasing the map, as Yann and i work together. Sorry for those who’ve been following and waiting.

Still, we were ‘that’ close ! So it’s reasonable to have good hopes for a beta version of Green Hell to be released towards the end of june.

Thanks for your patience  ]notworthy[  ]cheers[

In my opinion, there is no problem with a later date release. You guys take your time and
enjoy life (or work)  ]cheers[

Now don´t bee too sorry, remember many of us have been around since the "Oleg days" when "2 weeks" was a very veriable statement! Usually the patches and updates turned up some day sooner or later. So when you declare a delay we will know that you´re doing your best to deliver as soon as you can and we aren´t an impatient crowd. Take your time, we will still be here!

Hello everybody,

While i was away, Yann was able to carry on with a few experimentations using the graphic extender mod, and below, a couple of pics he just sent me.
I have not yet seen or played the map since he experimented that graphic extender mod, but i am more than favorably impressed to say the least 😵
Hope you’ll like it to.

We’ll be able to resume work on the map from next week on, fingers crossed for a beta release before july 🤙🏽

Hi guys,

the map has entered its final stage. Port Moresby airfield complex will be finalized tomorrow. As of now, Kila Kila, Berry, Schwimmer, Durand and Rogers are there. The big ones, Jackson and Wards are to follow.

Rabaul is complete as of 1942 early 1943, i.e with Lakunai, Vunakanau and Rapopo airfields.
For the town of Rabaul itself, we borrowed and adapted Bee "Welcome to Hell - Rabaul 1944" actors.static to our need. He did an outstanding job there and a special thanks goes to him here.

All other airfields are done.
Textures, all of them created by Yann from scratch, have reached their final appearance and will be released as such, although Yann always has ideas to try and improve them ;D

We'll use the following week to work on the static, many hundreds of objects to position... not a walk in the park as the map is... vast ^-^

RABAUL

Lakunai, its two grass strips, plus the concrete small fighter strip built by the japanese after the took over the place from the Aussies (The earth color of the taxiways will be subject to a slight change, probably more greenish)

Simpson Harbour :

Vunakanau and some impressions of a low bombing run :

Rapopo :

PORT MORESBY

Berry and Schwimmer : (right behind, Jackson & Wards still WIP)

Berry, Schwimmer and overthere Durand can be seen, many options to get back down in Port Moresby ; )

Kila Kila

MILNE BAY

Turnbull and Gurney, their respective appearances were modified once again, PSP plates redone etc.. :

NORTH COAST

Buna, Lae, same punishment :

ADMIRALTY ISLANDS

We decided to add Manus island as it was held by the Japanese since april 1942. It is the only occasion were we "cheated" regarding actual geographical position and the 1/1 scale rule.
The Admiralty islands archipelago should normaly be a hundred miles farther north, out of the map perimater, but we thought it wouldn't really be noticeable, while it is interesting to include them mission wise.
Momote airstrip :

Hopefully beta version to be realeased start of july, latest !
Thanks for following ]cheers[
