Wonderful model. It looks absolutely wonderful.
Observation regarding the navigation lights. I assume that the lights can be disabled by placing a dash in front of the folder?
A large ship like a carrier would have had two mast head lights with the second (rear most masthead light) higher than the first on the highest mast. Where the front mast head light would be placed on a CV I do not know. The mast head lights, just like the port and starboard running lights would be "on" solid so a lookout on another ship could tell the aspect of the ship in relationship to the ship with the lookout. The navigation lights, unlike on aircraft do not blink at least in the USN.
I can't answer for WW2 submarines, but when I served aboard two of the boats some 30 years ago we had a Submarine ID beacon in addition to the traditional navigation lights when running on the surface at night. It is a yellow/amber light that is installed at the top of the snorkel mast. When activated it flashes in a sequence of three flashes then off and repeats as long as it is activated. We only used this beacon while I was onboard at the completion of a couple of our fleet exorcises at night so we did not get run over by the surface ships when it was over. We would also use it when training with surface ships and aircraft to ID our position when they couldn't find us then start the process all over again.
I am assuming the Ranger is not compatible with the Carrier Take Off MOD. I just tested it with four wildcats and three blew up upon spawning, I took number 4 and it did not get damaged. With the CTO disabled all four planes spawn just fine.
