Ivan, thanks. But I did. In F-104,missile follows enemy all right, but in F-106 missile rarely hits. Mmm,something strange.
Which version of the F-104 were you using?
Anyways, all F-104s (except the ASA-M) can only carry AIM-9B Sidewinder missiles. The AIM-9 is IR guided, and if launched correctly, can destroy a target 50% of the time.
The F-106 if i recall correctly had the AIM-4A and AIM-4C Falcon (correct me if i'm wrong). The Falcon is, generraly, a orrible missile, poor explosive radious, unreliable guidance system, poor maneuvrability...
In the F-102/106, as i said before, there are 2 different versions:
AIM-4A =
IR guided; kinda like the AIM-9 but way worse. Use it in close range targets, it can engage slow moving targets but not MiGs.
AIM-4C =
Radar guided; works as the AIM-7 Sparrow. Use it at 4/5 Km and keep the target in sight. You could shoot manouvering targets with this version, but bear in mind that you must be far from the target, keeping it on sight and without a guaranteed hit.
