do you think it would be good to give her a lighter weight so she can take off from our runways in game? I know one may be able to lift off but I doubt any more than one could.
Just back from a quick test with updated flight model.
Turns out that with 6x5000hp you can "hang her in the props" at 190-200kph, which means that even 8 planes lined up on "Pacific Islands" QMB scramble mission will get airborne with full fuel load + 20 tons bomb load.
I think that's fine, but if you want we can still add RATO boosters.

I think they're for 4.12:

I've installed sea mines in my 4.10 install and they work very well ...

Yep, but that's a dependency which isn't met by most players games.

No problem, it would be nice if Fugaku was available to players of all versions.

Now all we need is the B-36 so the USA doesn't feel inadequate XD

I think I've heard some whistles about a B-36 already, so... just be patient 8)
The Fugaku got some unplanned delay today.
Reason: During damage model tests we had to figure that IL-2's core code simply doesn't check for propellor collisions if the plane has more than 4 engines.
Silly but true.
This by the way also affects the stock Me-323.

We've had the choice to either say "yeah... well... you'll need an updated Gear class" and leave that task for other modpacks to solve, or to dive deep into the abyss of Java Reflection (possible thanks to the SAS Common Utils) in order to get access to all required properties of the Gear class from "outside" and reverse engineer the required checks and calls in the Fugaku class itself, in order to make it work standalone, independent of possible future fixes of the underlying issue.
We chose the latter, but this took about a day's work to get it right.

Just a small update in the meantime.
Getting the flight model right wasn't an easy task... turns out IL-2 is mostly incapable of dealing with such a large and heavy plane and at the required high speed and altitude.
Most of the issues are solved, albeit it was necessary to adjust the wing lift in Java code - I hate that, but there's no other chance.
Did I mention that RATO boosters are available too?
Without them, AI can't reliably pick the plane off medium size runways with full load.
Talking about full load: The plane has a range of ~20.000km with 5 tons bomb load.
I'm not sure how we're gonna make use of this feature in IL-2, but that's what it is.
Even if you pick the maximum bomb load of 20 tons and 10%, you still get a range of ~1.000km. It's insane.
Oh and talking about loadouts again, we've got a total number of 132 available loadout options now.
Sounds like a lot, but it's not really that much of a difference.
You get 800kg, 600kg, 500kg, 250kg, 100kg, 60kg, 50kg and 50kg incendiary bombs, plus japanese versions of the Hs-293 and the Fritz-X.
Each of them in different numbers - if you pick less bombs, you will have the option for "extended range" (+ 10 tons) and/or "long range" (+ 15 tons) fuel tanks inside the bomb bays.
Furthermore, each of the loadouts can be selected either with or without RATO boosters.

Another one to keep you updated:

First Version got finalized, it's for the 4.09m rebels, they need a dedicated version because of all the missing dependencies.
There's just one tiny drawback to "pure" 4.09 rebels, which is the fact that the gliding bombs (Henschel and FritzX derivates) will only work right if your game already holds suitable core classes for such guided bombs in general, otherwise both will just follow a ballistic path almost like any other bomb.
That's something that cannot be done on plane mod level, I hope you understand that limitation.

The plan is to have all other base game versions (4.10 - whatever there is) covered by the same mod version.
Just a matter of days now.
