VIDEO: B-26 Marauders hit Pointe Du Hoc - May 1944.
« on: June 05, 2019, 07:24:15 PM »

For my friends here at SAS - dedicated to all who took part on June 6th, 1944 - on both sides.
Pre-invasion Mission out of Boscombe Down against the 155  mm guns on Pointe du Hoc - May, 1944.
On the return leg the squadron gets bounced by two pairs of BF-109's from JG26 - "The Abbeville Boys" - with predictable results.

>>SAS~HolyGrail - Thanks!
This plane is a bitch to take of and land with..I keep forgetting to post mission code on my web page - you will have to copy and paste it into a text doc and save it as a .mis file..
if you have the WWII VP modpack and 4.12- and the B-26 Marauder found here at SAS - open it up in the full mission builder and you'll be on the runway. Hopefully.
And I Challenge anybody to take off  loaded with 500 Lb bombs..it flies like a brick. Give it all the runway before you pull back and apply flaps or it will stall, then hard left rudder and 45 degree turn - maintaining the rudder until you have altitude and can level out..( or just use the auto-pilot, but it can be unpredictable with the load ) join the oncoming formation and follow them to the target. You have to set them all to drop when you do, so read up on that - don't miss the target (ha ha) and stay with the formation. And you will get bounced on the way out. Note the Aircraft vulnerability is set to 0.. so you wont crash. But for more realism, kick it up a notch. The formation does go back to the base but only two planes are set to land - the remainder just orbit until you end the mission. Good luck! There are stationary cameras throughout so cycle them on the playback..
