Midway (2019) Trailer
« on: June 27, 2019, 10:47:09 AM »

Feels good to see this being made in my lifetime rather than being forced to watch the 1976 version

Thanks for posting, looks awful.
Will Hollywood ever get the B-25 during the Doolittle Raid looking right? Aside from the wonderful 30 Seconds over Tokyo. The top turret and tail poistion are all wrong (probably J Model), and holy hell what insignia is that at 0:56 on the wing!?!? I'm seeing Pearl Harbor, Doolittle Raid, and Midway, SBDs, B-25s, A6Ms, B5Ns, G3Ms, TBDs, and Mandy Moore. The scene where the SBD is bombing the Japanese airfield at 1:15 could be from when the Enterprise,Yorktown, and Lexington went raiding through the Pacific from Feb-Mar 1942.

Looks rubbish from the trailer - up there with the execrable Pearl Harbour movie.

"From the director of Independence Day" ???  kinda sums it up right there, doesn't it.  Historical accuracy will be in the title of the movie and probably nowhere else.
Another "Pearl Harbor" I'm guessing.  Pity.

Great, another history according to Micheal Bay flick.  Looks like they just copied the scenes from the last 20 years of WWII movies.  The battle that actually started the beat down underdog surprise comeback trope, and it's just not good enough for Hollywood.

Great Story about Luck and fate (AW in JN25).  Whoever was the technical adviser should be dealt with harshly. 💩

I can wait for this to show up on a late Friday night on TV in 2 years or so.
And if it doesn't show up , there are lots of great things to watch.

The flying scenes alone look so comic bookish that in terms of the technology
available and unused in making this look creditable I want to break something.

I think I'll go fly Il2 1946.
Its over 20 years old now and a much better investment of my time.

Plus the recent SBD updates make me scratch my head of why the SBDs look so awful, like a transparent brown...
