So I've been dabbling with DGen recently...
« on: August 18, 2019, 03:40:10 PM »

I've always been fascinated with how DGen works, but never understood it very well. One thing that had bothered me was some early West Front missions featured aircraft that replaced others, such as the LaGG-3 for the Dewoitine D-520. So after some research and a little trial and error, I actually managed to replace some of the stock aircraft with the actual aircraft used!

Now, I found amongst my DGen file Amagi's Guide, but it's a bit too long winded for me to understand properly (I am not great at reading comprehension).

So far, what I understand is that each operation has an associated Messages.dat file, plus (operation).dat and (operation)planes.dat, a mis file(?), and it's all connected to Europlanes.dat or the Pacific Fighters equivalent.

Can someone explain the parts to a DGen campaign in more simple terms than from Amagi's DGen guide? I would love to start making a DGen campaign for real.

DGen Knowledge base articles on M4T

well, you can't skip reading something, but I find this a very good source and all you need really.
